Why Portal 2 Has Me Worried

Can the sequel possibly live up to the original?

As most gamers know first-hand at this point, Portal was an absolutely fantastic game. It combined a great new mechanic with innovative puzzles, a strong story, charm and an extremely strong main character. The magic of Portal didn't lie in just one of the elements, each and every part of the game played into why it was so enjoyable. This, in essence, is why I am worried about Portal 2.

"Game of the Year"?! Conclusion

How did 5th Cell react to the hype for the game?

I've dished out a lot of blame to gaming journalists, with all those review snippets on the first day, as well as the few articles I chose to connect here yesterday, but I'll be honest, it wasn't all Kotaku's, IGN's, or any particular gaming journalist's fault that prerelease hype for Scribblenauts grew out of hand. Take a look at most of the "famous" Post #217 from the NeoGAF forums, and the impressions of Scribblenauts it contains, though be warned, there is a bit of foul language:

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle Review

A solid, but still flawed follow-up to Travis Touchdown's first outing.

As you all know, around two weeks ago I played through No More Heroes for the first time. With the second game already out, it only made sense to keep on going and jump right into No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle.

"Game of the Year"?! Part Three

Where did things go wrong?

So what pushed members of the gaming media to become so enthusiastic with Scribblenauts coverage? What encouraged reviewers to ignore or flat out dismiss a terrible control scheme? What caused them to neglect to mention how basic most summonable things are?

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Arcade FightStick Review

Quite possibly the best and most feature-packed arcade stick currently available for Wii.

Most gamers familiar with the Mad Catz name are typically reluctant to purchase their products; I'm not surprised considering their track record, and many poor quality peripherals. Recently, Mad Catz has entered the arcade stick market with Street Fighter IV branded arcade sticks, as well as the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Arcade FightStick, which was released in conjunction with the recent Wii fighter. While Mad Catz has a questionable track record, I am happy to say that after thoroughly playing numerous games using this arcade stick, this is a fantastic controller.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Review

One of the most atmospheric on-rails shooter ever made.

Since the inception of the Wii, one genre in particular has become one of the most prevalent: the on-rails shooter. This is undoubtedly due to the Wii’s control scheme. With so many available, the genre has diversified. Some provide a more arcade-like experience while others feature a more cinematic experience that some companies have dubbed a "guided first person experience". Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is the latter, providing scares and tension by the boatload. As such, The Darkside Chronicles has established itself as one of the best on-rails shooters on Wii.

No More Heroes Review Rewind

Inspired by the release of the second game, Nick revisits No More Heroes for PixlBit's second Review Rewind.

I definitely missed the boat with No More Heroes. Sure, I bought it near release, but the best I ever did was wipe out the first boss and get into a few side jobs. Other things seemed to come up and the game got shelved indefinitely. As we all know, the second title in the series has just been released, which incidentally acted as a pretty good motivator to go back and finish what many called one of the Wii's greatest games.
