Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 Review

The commando returns for the sequel to the remake of the classic NES platformer.

The second iteration of Capcom’s Bionic Commando reboot once again takes us to the brutally difficult world of old-school NES platformers. Gameplay improvements and an awesome soundtrack await returning players as they precariously swing the commando from level to level. Technical issues keep the game from feeling too polished as a whole, but fans of the original may be pleasantly surprised as they play through the game’s many environments.

BloodRayne: Betrayal Review

A bloody good time.

Usually the thought of having to write up a BloodRayne review would induce crippling migraines and the erratic uttering of various four letter words that I can’t type here for obvious reasons; so bad have the previous installments been. But in this particular case I must admit I was intrigued and even a bit excited to get my hands on this particular title. Why you ask? Well because this game was made by WayForward Technologies, the California based developer responsible for bringing Contra back to its roots with Contra 4 on the Nintendo DS.

Metroid: The First Encounter

To wrap up the week and put a bow on the fine work of JD, some of the staff have contributed their first encounter with the series and some unique memories of their experiences.

The Metroid series is one like no other. It offers a unique experience that has rarely been replicated in 2D and stands completely alone in 3D. Nearly every entry in the series is extremely highly regarded and for many, games like Metroid Prime and Super Metroid are among the best games ever created. Being such prolific games, the PixlBit staff has decided to provide some memories they have of the games and their first encounter with the series.

PlayStation 3 Now $250

Today, Sony announced that the PlayStation 3 is officially dropping in price across both models.

Earlier today at Gamescom, Sony revealed a $50 price cut for both models of the PlayStation 3, bringing the 160GB slim model down to $250 and the 320GB slim model to $300. In addition to the price cuts, at select retailers across America, Sony is running a limited-time special bundle for $300, which will include the 320GB system, a copy of inFamous 2, and a 30 day PlayStation Plus trial. The price drop is effective immediately, allowing newcomers to jump in without a wait.

NCAA Football 12 Review

Despite the small changes, NCAA '12 continues its longstanding legacy of great college football simulation.

NCAA '12 brings improved presentation, similar gameplay, and a few new features to the table this year. While NCAA '12 is a great football game, it doesn't completely outdo last year's NCAA '11.

First Legend of Zelda Symphony Concert Date, Pricing Revealed

Zelda gets her own concerts. Must be nice to be royalty.

A concert series celebrating the 25-year legacy of the Legend of Zelda series was announced at E3 2011, and today Nintendo announced the first one will be held on October 21 at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. Starting at $35, tickets for the L.A. concert are being sold through Ticketmaster beginning August 1.
