Resident Evil 4 - HD Review

Proof that HD doesn't always make a difference.

Resident Evil 4 on the GameCube was a game that won over countless fans. The game brought the series into a new era with revolutionary gameplay while retaining the series' classic creepy feel. Over the years we've seen many different ports of the game, and this time we see what is likely to be the last version: Resident Evil 4 HD. It retains all of the features from the PS2 and Wii ports along with a graphical makeover which surprisingly is the weakest part of the package. But a great game is a great game, and this HD port is proof.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica X - HD Review

Minimal improvements and dated gameplay – Code: Veronica X HD in a nutshell.

You may be asking yourself, "Why did Capcom decide to remaster Resident Evil Code: Veronica X in HD?" Truth is, I'm asking myself the same question after playing it. The game is fully rendered in 3D, unlike Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3, which feature static backgrounds. This has made an HD port possible, but it hardly makes it necessary. Because the graphics have received minimal improvement and the gameplay has received none, the HD port serves little purpose other than bringing Code: Veronica to two new platforms.

Neither held true when Nintendo revealed the peripheral after the conference online last night. Retailing at ¥1,500, the peripheral will be an officially supported add-on and will be available later this year on December 10, alongside the release of Monster Hunter 3 G, which will include support for the peripheral.

The Used Game Sale Conundrum

Why do game companies feel the licensed products you buy still belong to them after their initial sale?

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. You might’ve heard of it. Releasing today, the arcade style shooter won’t allow players to erase their save data in any capacity. You heard that right – if you purchase this game and want to start over at any point, you won’t be able to. “Well,” you say to yourself, “I probably won’t ever start over anyway, so no big deal.” Until, of course, you go to trade-in the game after you’re sick of it and you’re being offered pennies on the dollar because nobody wants your game used. I’m guessing that’s when some frustration is due to set in.
