A Final Fantasy XIII-2 Amazon.com preorder gives players a boss battle and party member. Why do the "when" and "where" matter when making a new videogame purchase?

This week's PB & Jason takes the idea of exclusive game content offered as retailer-specifc preorder bonus to the task, specifically in relation of Final Fantasy XIII-2. In short, I think the idea is ridiculous, and I'm surprised to see Square Enix using this tactic for a Final Fantasy title.

The ACB has refused to rate the reboot to the franchise.

Austrailia's Classification Board has a history of banning video games in its country. The Witcher 2, 50 Cent: Bulletproof and more recently, Mortal Kombat have all been denied entry down under. The new Syndicate reboot that was set to be released in February of 2012 can now be added to the list as it has been effectively banned by the ACB.

Plus other deals in the 12 Days of Xbox promotion.

Microsoft's Major Nelson announced today that for the next 12 days, there will be a daily deal on Xbox Live. Called the 12 Days of Xbox Deals, every day will bring a new deal on a different item. However, each deal will only last for one day. The first deal is 50% off Bastion. The new video game client is in beta and includes over 300 games free to subscribers.

Gamefly acquired Direct2Drive, a PC subscription-based rental service, back in May of this year and until recently we had yet to see what the online mail rental service would do with it. Gamefly didn't have any service for PC gamers and this seemed to be a way to change that. Then in August, Gamefly announced a PC client to be released at a later time.
