It’s plain to see what Snowblind Studios was trying to do with Lord of the Rings: War in the North. They wanted to create a game that would appeal to fans of the books and films while simultaneously creating something new – telling a tale that had not yet been told. I applaud them for attempting to strike out on a new path, but there is a big difference between expressing the intent to do something and actually following through with it and unfortunately War in the North falls short of their self imposed expectations and fails to innovate in any real meaningful way.
Valve has taken the forums down "for maintenance."
A hacker group by the name of "FknOwned" has hacked into the PC software Steam's forums and posted an ad for their site, which offers "general discussion sections, hacking tutorials and tools, porn, free giveaways and much more." NeoGAF user imek has reported that a similar message was also sent via email from Steam.
The Lego based MMO is ending after a little over a year.
The Lego group has announced that Lego Universe will be closing its doors on January 31, 2012. The MMO developed by Play Well Studios has around two million subscribers but has failed to reach enough revenue to make it profitable. This shut down comes after the title was released 15 months ago. The 115 people who work on the game will be laid off come the 2012 end date.
