Archie Comics who own the rights to Sonic the Hedgehog (20 years) and Mega Man (25) are finally doing a crosover of the Two, True, Blue, Bot, Bashers in a 12 part event for 4 months. to celebrate both the Mega Man franchise and the Sonic comics anniversary.

I have reviewed the Prelude Issues [here] which will be available free on Free Comicbook Day on May 4th, Saturday. And review of Part 1 [here].

Sonic Universe #51

Writer: Ian Flynn             Pencils: Jamal Peppers

When Worlds Collide Part 1: Mistaken Identity

This issue starts right after the Dr Eggman and Dr. Wiley activate the "Genesis Wave" (read Sonic the Hedgehog 225 and the Sonic: Genesis graphic Novel to know the ins and outs), taking where the first issue left off Proto Man facing off Sonic's roboticized Friends and allies "Robotocized Masters" alone, on TV no less. And yes, they're names have man/woman at the end Tongue Out

There's the nod to Mega Man 2 which almost went over my head and I had forgotten the comic covered too, it got a chuckle out of me, i'll say. We then see how Sonics world is affected by the absence of His friends and how Chaotix get involved in this and how Mega Man enters Mobius (for those who don't know in the comics Mobius is Earth in a very distant future when genocidal Aliens tried to eradicate humans), and explains why Sonic and Mega Man are fighting which is... just a little iffy on the oanels but the dialogue supports it.

There's a little too much expositon but the comic is covering many characters and sqeezing all that in 20 pages is impressive.

The art is better than the last I found, it has many interesting angles and perspectives all used to emphasize the action to great effect, The way the Genesis wave is shown is cleverly done as if it's slowly but surely reconstructing reality, although there are 2 iffy moments involving the amount of spines Shadow Man (see, I told you) has.

conclusion

Despite sum gripes another solid issue a great amount of escalation, and I ended up having as much fun as two evil geniuses. This lead up to the Sonic and Mega Man beat down they've teased has just kicked off and I'm and I'm excited, can't wait till the next (which is out today by the way, this review is lateEmbarassed)

This is V saying "Stay tuned..."

Love the left cover. Reminds me of the best capcom versus fighters!

I'm glad you enjoyed it, but Sonic needs to stop flipping me off. Washed up bastard. Tongue Out

Nah, I know it's his pointer finger, but it sure doesn't look like it. The fact it's heavily pixelated doesn't help.

I just added another figure to my collection yesterday. It's the 2011 version of Sonic and stands about 4 inches tall. Has movable joints and all. Love collecting Sonic stuff, but have no Mega Man collectibles yet. Will definitely be doing some comic shopping tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up and the very informative blog.

You're welcomeSmile

I have a D-arts Zero figure but the hair broke Cry

But with some material I can stich a new one on. I'm planing on getting the "make it your self" Mega Man kit.

I want that big 12" Sonic I have a Sonic and Black Knight one, and a 6" Shadow. I may get the Sonic Generations Statue with current and past sonic.

If they make a Sonic Generations 2  i hope they get the Sonic from Sonic CD he had a slightly different look and a bit more BadassLaughing
