This game really got me hooked right away. I was surprised at the way it captured the rythm and flow of combat, giving attacks a little resistance and kickback just like the weighty weapons in 3D Souls. The atmosphere is fantastic. The music is very gloomy and atmospheric. Again, a plus. The boss fights are a real bitch. There are different weapon builds. There are NPCs. It's great! What I appreciate about the game is that it lets me use a shield at least. I couldnt really do that in Bloodborne, but thats a different game, yet I feel like Salt&Sanctuary is very much a sequel or prequel that could fit in between big Souls games just like they try to do with 2D Arkham Batman and 2D Assassins Creed. Oh, and the game encourages exploration and each new discovered area has new tricky and strange enemies to mix things up and keep everything fresh all the time. It's very good! GOTY candidate perhaps?
 

I'm actually pretty happy about this. I enjoyed what I played of STO on PC when it first came out and there is loads of content added over the years, so I'd be interested in popping in again and going through it all. I just get tired of unloading and reloading the game onto my PC all the time. It is supposed to be F2P and coming this Fall.

I don't think I've ever gone this long without posting a blog or anything. I haven't really been playing or watching much television lately. The only game I really put a lot of hours into was 'Witch and the Hundred Knight' which is an anime Diablo clone on PS4. Its pretty colorful, but grindy as fuck. There's a demo out on PSN, but honestly its the type of game that gets better after tons of hours played since you are more powered up and have different abilities to use. The story is quite dark, considering the art style. It looks like a Disgaea game, but the main character is really foul mouthed and cruel. Pretty dark stuff. I was a little shocked by the subject matter actually.

Okay, so I completely took apart my PS3 and dusted the hell out of it and cleaned and cleared every little corner. To recap, my PS3 starting shutting itself off for no reason. The only thing I could think of was I had just done a firmware update, but until then, I've never had an issue with this. Usually, with my own PC, if it shuts down frequently, it's usually caused by excess heat, poor ventilation, or dusty fans. So I took apart the whole PS3, piece by piece and cleaned it all up. I've been leaving it on for long perionds of time, and it seems to have done it, for now anyway. 


I couldn't resist, and bought the HD version of Code Veronica X from the RE 20th anniversary sales on PSN this week. It looks great. Much better than I remember, and it is still one of the hardest games in the series. God forbid I get an extra healing item, or lack of bullet sponge swamp thingie monsters. Which reminds me. The revelations game had lame bullet sponge enemies which totally ruined that game for me. In Code Veronica X, there are moments where these super enemies just appear and the tension just elevates through the roof. I've actually died alot during these enemy jump scares because I had no idea 'that was about to happen'. I can see also how the game started diverging from the series and becoming far more actiony like the later games 4, 5 & 6. Interesting.

Anyway, this whole thing started because I wanted to do a playthrough of Final Fantasy games, and my PS3 would die while playing FF 8. Without a PS3, it would be hard to do a series play through, without emulating, but I hate messing with emulators on PC.
