Those of us who read Nintendo Power in the early '90s probably have fond memories of the comics they ran back then. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Super Mario World both had great comic adaptations that, while loose with the source material, were a ton of fun to read. Rereading them today, though, was an arduous task even if you still had your old issues of NP after all these years. But the Zelda comic was finally reprinted in 2015 and the Mario comic got the same treatment last October. I'm reading it right now and having a wonderful time. They put so much personality into the characters. I feel like if they made a comic for Mario today it would be a sterile corporate creation, but this comic is brimming with life all its own. And I had forgotten how awesome Peach—er, Princess Toadstool is in here. Great stuff.

For those of you who listen to Retronauts, this is old hat but I thought it was so cool that I wanted to share it with those of you in the dark. (And if you're not listening to Retronauts...what's wrong with you???) Metroid Resynthesized is a fan arrangement of the original Metroid soundtrack done on a Korg MS20 Mini. Basically, any synth music you hear today that's done on a computer is digital but this project was done with analog synths, giving it a '70s-ish sci-fi sound. It's really cool!

I know this isn't breaking news—the story I first saw was posted January 30—but the Deus Ex franchise has apparently been put on hiatus after Mankind Divided failed to meet sales expectations. As a big fan of the series that waited five painstaking years for this sequel, this news is crushing, especially considering how Mankind Divided left the story just hanging there. What if we have to wait another five years? WHAT IF WE NEVER GET ANOTHER? I am very frustrated. And so they can work on Guardians of the Galaxy? *grumble grumble*

I think I've mentioned before on here that my favority comic is Archie's Mega Man series, which is written by a guy named Ian Flynn. Or, I should say, was written. The series has gone on indefinite hiatus  But before Flynn wrote Mega Man he became the head writer for the Sonic comic. After reading the Worlds Collide crossover event (Mega Man and Sonic is a weird combination but it worked), I decided to dip my toe in the Sonic pool since I already liked the writer. Plus, Sonic got a soft reboot after Worlds Collide that started the TPs back at 1, so it was a good time to jump on the bandwagon and the books have been good so far. ANYWAY. Archie also published a line of TPs called Sonic Saga Series that starts with Flynn's first story arc as head writer. I've been meaning to get it for a while and finally did. It's called The Darkest Storm 

Netflix announced yesterday that an animated Castlevania series will be coming to the streaming service this year. It will apparently be a very violent, adult-aimed series based Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse and written by Warren Ellis. I am certainly intrigued. We haven't had anything Castlevania for several years now. Maybe Konami will leave the doldrums of pachinko behind and come back to making awesome games! But I'd settle for them licensing out their many great properties for other to work on at least. And hey, we're getting a Bomberman game on the Switch. I never thought he'd be getting a new game.
