Recently SEGA released a collection of Genesis titles on current consoles.  I love classic game collections so in this blog we’ll go over all the games on here.  Back in the 16-bit days I was a SNES guy so I missed out on a lot of Genesis games so many of these titles aren’t as familiar to me.  There also a lot of neat features in this collection like trophies and challenges, online play for certain games, and the whole setup is like you’re in a gamer’s bedroom from the 90’s, complete with SEGA posters on the wall!  Speaking of which, the game even comes with a poster with Golden Axe on one side and Streets of Rage on the other.  Anyway, since there are so many games on this collection, we’re going to split this blog into two parts.  So let’s get started with the first set of games!

Can you believe this year is already half over?  What I like to do this time of year is write about the best games of the year so far.  Everyone is all excited over recent E3 announcements, and most of the really good titles come out during the Christmas season at the tail end of the year, and the games that come out earlier tend to be forgotten.  So this is where those games get their due.  Keep in mind that no outside opinions went into the making of this list.  It’s just my own picks.  And if a game is missing from my list, it either didn’t appeal to me as much, or I just simply haven’t played it yet.  Can’t play all the games out there, you know!  Anyway, without further ado, welcome to Cary’s Best Games of 2018 SO FAR Awards Show!

The Electronics Entertainment Expo, or E3 for short, is one of the biggest trade shows in the video game industry, and I’ve been going to it nearly every year since 1997.  Sure I’ve skipped a few years here and there.  Like when I didn’t have an outlet to write on for a short while between the newspaper and GamerDad.  Or when I just started a new job and didn’t have enough money or vacation time.  Or when E3 went through a bit of a downsizing phase and I didn’t feel like it was worth the trip then.  But those absences were all my choice.  I’ve been able to go nearly every year otherwise.  But for the past five years, I was denied a press pass for whatever reason.  Yet somehow, this year I was able to get a media pass even though nothing had changed.  So last week I went to E3, and here’s some articles about it!

So over the past few weeks I’ve written several articles about Nintendo Labo at GamerDad.com.  But since these articles were so spread out, I figured I’d bunch links to them all here for easy access for people who want to read them all.  So dig in and check out all about Nintendo’s creative cardboard folding video games on the Switch!

So as most of you have probably heard by now, I’ll be going to E3 after a five-year long hiatus.  I’ve been going to E3 since 1997, and while I did skip a couple of years here and there, it was by my own choice for the most part.  But the past five years I didn’t get approved for a media pass because they said the site I write for was too small.  But I kept applying each year anyway and to my surprise, this year I was approved!  I don’t know what changed, but hey, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, right?  So we’ll see if E3 is still better than PAX.  Oh yeah, speaking of, since I am going to E3, I won’t be going to PAX West this year in August.  Mainly because I don’t have enough vacation time plus it’s really hard to take off around Labor Day where I work.  I will post my E3 coverage over at GamerDad.com when I get back, so please be sure to check that out after the show.  But in the meantime, here are some game reviews I’ve posted lately there.  Please click on the links and read as many as you can and maybe even post a like or comment or two.  I’d really appreciate it.  OK let’s begin!

Recently I got The King of Fighters XIV for PS4.  A lot of times when I get a fighting game, I like to talk about the characters in it.  But there are SO many characters in this one that there’s NO WAY I’m going to do that!  So we’ll just look at my favorites, OK?  And none of these are in any particular order.
