I Need an Island Vacation!

Posted on 04/09/2020 at 12:56 PM | Filed Under Blogs

My son and I are definitely loving this game. It's my Island so I'm in charge of basic infrastructure but he's in charge of island beautification and now that we have the teraforming ability he's been busy building pathways, changing the island ponds and making suggestions for where I put bridges and inclines.

He goes right back to the first Animal Crossing too and he's always been a pro at it.

He's already got a 4 room first floor and a second floor on his house. I'm barely scraping by with two rooms and don't have the money to pay off the second yet.

Yes it is a game that is perfect for these times and a perfect way to escape for a few hours. but just remember that it can't rain every day and we will get through this.

You are on my best friends list for my island so you can come visit. I already visited you once but I didn't know how to communicate back then so I ran away. LOL

Quick Hits: Hello Friday The 13th

We have a neighbour across from us who was setting off their car alarm and stopping it repeatedly for about a half hour at a time. This went on for months.

We figure it's a mental disorder. It hasn't happened recently but I've probably jinxed it by saying that.

Don't feel bad, neither have I. When the games were first released I'd play until my wife or son commandeered the game and then watch them finish it.

My wife doesn't play anymore but she was great at the 2D and 3D Marios, Crash Bandicoot etc.

What I did with my winter (not a gaming entry)

Posted on 03/10/2020 at 01:22 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Yeah Winter hear in South Western Ontario has been about the same. Where I am in London there hasn't even been much snow. 2 or 3 snowfalls of any significance that were quickly washed away by rain and temperatures above freezing.

Yesterday, March 9th it got to 15 degrees celsius (60 in F degrees). Today it is 9 and raining.

Also, snow storms and cold weather aren't nearly as bad when you look at them through the office window and never have to go out if you don't want to.

Work has been really busy. I have 1 customer for 40 hours a week plus 2 small projects with other customers.

I'm actually getting a bit more exercise since I got a watch that counts my steps and nags me if I don't get up and walk once an hour. If it isn't raining or terribly cold I go out and walk for half an hour during the day, I started off slowly but I'm now breaking 8000 steps a day. It's a start anyway.

Good to hear from you here at picklebits instead of just trolling you on FB. :)

3 Years Later: Captain N's thoughts on: Nintendo Switch

I love my Switch. I've managed to buy 55 physical games and over 100 digital. I bought a Switch lite a few weeks back for use when travelling or when I don't feel like using my regular Switch undocked. It's much lighter and easier to hold.

I regret buying Fire Emblem in digital format now. I've promised myself that if I can buy something physical I will from now on.

SNES Games I Love #26: Chrono Trigger

I have played through this game a few times and I'm always impressed that it is so well put together you forget that it's a 16 bit game from days of yore. I think I played the PS1 version first so I was late to the party. I had the DS version but stupidly sold it.

Bought a Switch Lite - This is not a BaD Blog

Luckily, if you have physical games that support cloud saves you can download your save on the Lite and continue where you left off.

Digital games it has to make sure you don't have two people playing a game at the same time when you only bought it once.

I found the cartridge for this game at a yard sale. I still have it somewhere.
