I like the presentation here, it would be a great idea for a more in depth 'how to'! I wonder what other games you might consider this approach with.

EVO Week 2nd Strike Day 2: Smashing Song of Praise- The Melee over Smash Bros.

I definately consider the Smash Bro's series fighting games, they use a limited pallet of moves in a new and interesting way. Fighting games are one of the most difficult genres to innovate in aside from basics like new gauges and meters, mid finishers and special moves/ sets. Actulally changing the basic play is something that Smash Bro's hold the crown with. Another fighter that I think is awesome and has changed the way beat em ups can be presented are the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series and the Broken Bond game. Both of these demonstrate what a limited ammount of buttons can achieve and Broken Bond in particular had a funky system for starting special moves. Many of the Naruto games suck but these are two examples where the developers got it right.

Sometimes puzzle games are too clever for their own good! though from the sounds of it the controls cerytainly add to that issue. It looks very pretty but I think the trick to games like this is to ensure that one way or another everybody can finish it. Thats what I really liked about Pushmo and Fallblox on the 3DS, you could set your own standard and skip quite a few areas to come back too later. I'm glad to see smaller titles like this getting some air time here on pixlbit, great review!

Not familiar with his work but I shall certainly have a look now, It's shame that such influencial people in the gaming industry don't get to hold much of the spotlight but It's great to see he had such a positive influence on others like your self Julian who also provide much needed escapism in this often hard life, I suppose you could say a bit of him lives on through Pixlbit.

Great read, very informative! I'm looking forward to getting this one but I ve got a few other things to buy first (probably animal crossing but we'll see!) I really have enjoyed some of the classics that have been delivered via Arcade these last few years, TMNT (both teh original and HD updated version) and X-Men all grade my storage device at the moment so this will become a welcome addition.

That is fucked up! you know I would expect a follow up on those comments he made but a quick pscyhe report must have sufficed, a background check (because we all know that the NSA now have everything you, probably with garbage cameras!)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2000566/Smile-Youre-bin-cam-The-snooping-device-record-throw-away.html   (I shit you not!)

The minority report seems to be ever closer. The real potential issue here is people will eventually be afriad to voice their opinions or frustrations through fear of persecution. Unvented anger often leads to boiling/ explosive point and thats where these kind of things happens, reminds me of Anger Management where Jack Nicholson tell Adam Sandler thats he's like the cashier who takes crap all day silently and then walks in with a gun for payback. I mentioned a gun and a public place, I just hope.......... ummpppphhhhh....... (sound of struggling)........... silence.

My Art Work pt 2: Illustrations

Posted on 07/08/2013 at 08:14 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Thanks Ben! I'd love to put it into a book someday, even if it's just a vanity publication! Commissioned work is hard to be enthusiastic about unless it's for a friend with similar interest (though then it's usually free!!) so I was glad to start drawing for me again. It's such a shame that the art world is so snobby and stuck up when the stuff that gets our juices going are imaginative concepts, imagination is sorely lacking from much of the mainstream stuff now. How are your creations coming along? I'm looking forward to seeing some more of your work too!
