I just use wiki as a starting point. Then I go to the library and get books. I'm excited about these Time-:Life series of historical period books. They give a good summary of events all across the globe and with pictures and maps.

This is the one I just read.
It's just a thing I thought of for this year. Each month I focus on a different time period. I started with the 16th century in January. I wanted some structure to my reading, then I carried it over to other media. It goes like this:
Jan - 16th
Feb - 17th
Mar - 18th
Apr - 19th
May - 1900-1949
June - 1950s
July - 60s
Aug - 70s
Sep - 80s
Oct - 90s
Nov - 00s
Dec - 10s
Man! All these look so great! I love the art style! It'd be something to go back and play all these. I played some of Castle of Illusion when I was collecting NES/Genesis games. Darkwing Duck is one I'd really like to play.
Yea, it's not helping consumers. It just makes me want all the consoles.
My friend was using some of the skins that make it look more realistic and I actually don't like that at all. I like it simple and pixelated. Plus the new skins confuse me by changing the way certain matterials look.
The first Toad hunt in ML: Paper Jam almost stopped me cold. I couldn't find the last two for a while. I started hitting everything with the hammer in frustration. I found them though, finally.
Thousand Year Door is incredible! Played that about a year ago and now I'm so excited for all the Mario RPG games.
I keep wanting to play all sorts of games, and then a friend asks me to play something and I drop them and do that. Social always beats personal projects I've found. It's just human nature, I guess, but it frustrates me sometimes.
The exclusivity thing, and timed releases for different consoles, is, I think, just the way console makers try and push their system. Whoever pays more for exclusivity or first release, gets to push their system a little bit in the market place. Like the way The Witness is only on PS4 right now. Someone (Sony) probably payed them a little more than MS to get that. It's just the console makers battling it out.
Same with my neice and nephew, and I hear it all the time from people with kids. It's a craze. I saw that Minecraft was number 3 on the NPDs for this month, STILL. Most sold version is apparently the physical one for Xbox 360. I think some people are buying 360s as if they were a Minecraft machine. Kind of like people buying Wiis for Wii Sports a while back.
I've always wanted to play the FF games. i played a bunch of FFIV on DS a while back and really loved it. I played some FFXII and didn't like the combat system much. I'd love to go back and play all the turn-based FF games.
