BaD: Shortest Games #7

Posted on 02/12/2022 at 08:37 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I really liked New Super Lucky's Tale.  It was definitely a callback to 3-D platformers in the N64 and GameCube eras, and while it wasn't perfect, it still put a smile on my face.  And games don't do that near as much for me anymore.

OST So Good! #9: Super Mario Galaxy

Posted on 02/12/2022 at 08:35 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I really liked the orchestral songs in Galaxy.  It fit so well!  Super Mario Galaxy was my GOTY back in 2007.  Portal would've gotten my GOTY that year, but I didn't play it until the next year, when The Orange Box went down in price.  But Galaxy is still worthy of that award.  When the Super Mario 3-D All-Stars game came out, I played all three games on it again, but Galaxy was the only one on it I actually finished again.  Mario 64 may still be my favorite 3-D Mario title, but Galaxy is a close second.

I loved this game back in the arcade!  Did you know it was actually made in the US for Taito?

OST So Good! #8: Viewtiful Joe 2

Viewtiful Joe games were great.  A bit too hard, but still great.  There are a lot of funky tunes in those games.  None of it was particularly memorable to me, but once you hear a song from the game, you know where it's from, so they are recognizable.

A bold statement for me to make, but I liked Card Fighters Clash more than Pokemon.  So I do hope you can try it.

Which one is on GamePass?  Windjammers 1 or 2?  Actually it really doesn't matter.  Both are practically the same game anyway.

I don't really play games on my phone either.  Most mobile games I just do on my iPad at home.  But Pikmin Bloom is more of a walking app than a game, so if you are on your feet all day or like to walk a lot, you might want to give it a try.  It entertained me for a couple of months anyway.

Shame you never got to play them and don't have the maracas anymore.  It's a really fun title and almost as good as the Taiko games.  They made a Wii version that you use the remotes with (not as good), but it did have Ulala in it so it can't be that bad. :)

BaD #9: Nintendo Direct recap

Posted on 02/10/2022 at 08:56 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Naturally I was most excited about the Klonoa collection and new Taiko game on the Switch.  And Kirby of course.  Mario Strikers was a nice surprise, and I'm both happy and disappointed with Nintendo Switch Sports.  I'll still get it anyway, but they have yet to improve on Wii Sports Resort.

Square Enix surprised me with a couple of things.  The Chrono Cross remaster looks interesting, although I'd mainly just want to play the included Radical Dreamers text adventure!  And the remake of Live A Live was also neat, as it was a Super Famicom game that never came out over here but I always wanted to try it.

OST So Good! #7: Metroid Prime

Posted on 02/10/2022 at 08:46 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Metroid Prime is such a great game.  I don't even like first person shooters and I liked this one.  The Metroid Prime title screen visuals and theme song is one of the coolest title screens out there.
