I've had an enchanting table from early on, before I fully learned how enchanting works, so the enchants i did weren't great. I have diamond everything, with some to spare, I just choose not to wear the armor so I can avoid repairs for now. I'm in the process of leveling through farming, smelting, quartz mining, and the occassional night of combat. Only going for the third tier enchants now. I want to beat Ender Dragon and then start a new map with all the knowledge I gained from my currrent play.

I've been trying to get my emeralds up lately too. I have a mason, but his trades don't seem that good. What are you trading to him to get emeralds?

The other day I died three times in a row after foolishlly rushing a skeleton at night. I had my iron armor instead of diamond on, and arrows bring me down quick. But the real mistake was trying to get away across water. Too slow. I died right outside my base door. Then two more times trying to collect my stuff. Lost a lot of xp i slowly built up since the last death. Enchanting will have to wait . I'm not ready to do meta game exploits like build a monster farm. Just want to try to get to Ender dragon by playing "normally"

Villagers have been breeding on their own now. I have a village of 7. Not too shabby considering the whole town was dead, eh? I made an iron golem instead of waiting for them to spawn one.  There were already a lot of beds in this village, but I put a few more up in houses, just to see what happens.

I've been able to repopulate my village to 5 now. I had to boat to another landmass and bring two villagers back one by one, and set up pistons activiated by switches to get them up into the village. But then I killed 3 Illagers that somehow got into town, which kicked off an instant raid. I didn't die this time, but I kept leaving the village to heal up from taking damage from the warbeast that was on my ass, and I guess I went too far away and it counted it as a failure. Both villagers were no more, so I had to go back and scoop up two more from across the ocean. Then it took a while to breed the first two. Threw tons of food at them and even walled them in together at one point.

Moral of the story: dont kill Pillage leaders. And if you do, make sure you have a bow and plenty of arrows with you in town to use against the warbeast.

Don't know why a stone wall would take longer than a stone fence, since you have to take the extra step of crafting the fence. As long as the wall is one or two stones high, it's enough. But you've played far more MC than me, so I don't know.

And yeah, light the town up. Treat it like you're own base or anywhere else you want to make safe.

Probably going to give another try searching for a village on this map. I've put so much work into it so far, and the idea of starting the whole mining and diamond searching process over doesn't thrill me right now.

Doom 64 was a whole new DOOM game. Some people call it "the real Doom 3". And it's great. Underrated in its time. New maps, new enemy designs, new weapon. Colored lighting. An ambient soundtrack. More of a horror atmosphere. A great Halloween game too.

No surprise the old DOOM formual still works, if developers abide by it. People are still making new campaigns for it.  The original game is one of the bonafide all time classics, like NES Mario games. People will be playing it 30 years from now. It just works.

I had a village close to my spawn point wiped out by a Pillager raid because I killed some of their people who were lurking near my base.  I didn't know about this mechanic and I was in the middle of expanding the village farm when they attacked. Also had no food on me to heal. I spent some time searching for another village, but so far nothing. Any tips on finding one?

But yeah, do not be near or awake in a village at night. One of the first things you should do is put up fencing or walls around the village.

The 2010s in review

A decade that saw the CRPG resurgence, rise of roguelikes and their rogue-lite bastard children, Japan coming back large, and the independent scene pumping out TONS of unique games, new ideas, as well as throwbacks to classic games, can't be that bad.  A few of the highlights for me include:

Terraria (possibly my game of the decade), New Vegas (mainstream RPG of the decade), Dying Light, Bloodborne, XCOM 1 and 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Hitman, Invisible Inc., Hotline Miami,  Phantom Pain, Dragon's Crown

Come to think of it, too much good stuff came out the second half of the decade. I'd need another half decade just to play everything that looked interesting to me

I was making good progress in Minecraft when a raid came and killed off the nearby village, that I had just started to developed. Completely killed my motivation to continue on that world.  Maybe one day I'll start a new one.

Every time I've watched footage of this game, I've never seen any actual platforming. Just running around large empty spaces and the occassional jump onto higher ground, which hardly qualifies. Same with Conker. But many people praise these games as a platformer, so it must be in there somewhere.
