I, I , I. Me, Me Me. Games!

That's true. lol. But for me it was getting a tad too gratuitous, kind of like a torture porn movie. I mean he had no reason to throw Poseidon's serving girl (or daughter?) into those gears. A minotaur corpse would have had the same result. (Hell, it likely would have worked better because I imagine minotaurs and monsters in general have thicker bones and denser muscle mass than most humans do)

Maybe Kratos simply wanted to hurt Poseidon on an emotional level but it's hypocritical Kratos is just as petty as the gods themselves while fighting them.

I'm sure Marianne would argue it's deliberate irony and adds to the tragedy of Kratos as a character yet you cannot deny many of these scenes of wanton violence tend to appeal to the tween dude/bro demographic. Sadly, most 15 year olds aren't going to grasp Marianne's deeper messages. (Unless they replay the games at 20 something and finally understand.)

As far as these kinds of characters go, I rather throw my lot in with Dante or Ryu Hayabusa. At least they can "reason" and not everything they do is because of blind idiotic rage. Kratos is "awesome" as a character in design but he would be a terrible friend and a terrible rescuer!

I think in your case you should have smirked, shrugged, and given her the finger! Yeah, I know she was your friend's GF but I think at that moment he probably would have understood. lol. The problem is we're not always prepared WHEN these things happen. We always think to ourselves "If I could re-live that I would have done it "this way!" Yet gradually we do get a tad better at reacting to the crap in our lives.

Heh, kind of weird Marianne won a BAFTA for GOW 2's writing. I mean it wasn't "bad writing" but I wouldn't say it was up there with Neir, Dragon-age,Mass Effect 1 & 2,Kotor, and Persona 4 either. However, before I dismiss Marianne with smug snooty indifference I should remember everyone has different tastes and GOW 2 was "still" a great game! I simply thought Kratos was more relatable in the first game whereas in the second game he was more irrational, more of an overall dick to the people he encountered, and much more angry. I understand "why" Kratos was pissed off but I think they dragged it out too long and over exaggerated it in some ways. I mean when you throw a naked helpless women into a bunch of gears just to hold open a door it's definitely time you saw a therapist! (Especially considering the same area was littered with monster corpses too)

I know about the dragon you are speaking of. Usually when I'm out that way I try to sneak around it. lol. Cowardly I know but as you have already stated, "Big Red" is a party wrecker. lol.

I was able to fell my first Griffin at Blue-moon tower. I was up into my 40's level wise before accepting that quest.

I had a similar experience. A girl from my HS (along with her obnoxious friend) made fun of me for carrying around my AD&D books. At that time I was still learning how to draw so I'd often refer to the books if I wanted to sketch a dragon or a wizard. Additionally my home life was pretty fucked up so I used ANYTHING to escape.

Granted, it didn't make me "hate women" and the girl I mentioned even sincerely apologized to me later. I could tell she felt bad because she was literally crying. I think deep down she knew just how bad she made me feel. Still, it does "hurt" doesn't it?

I'm one of those weird people who began to enjoy the story and side characters in Dragon's Dogma. I admit part of that stems from the fact I was given the impression DD had a very weak plot so when I found out there were in fact "romances" and character centric side quests I was pleasantly surprised.

Of course the big appeal is having a griffin go airborne with you on its' back as you hack & slash away at it. My pawn is also a magic powder-keg! She's TNT,dynamite! Tongue Out

 By the way,happy "25",ser!

Feel no guilt,Nicole! I've been pretty distracted by life's obstacles as well. I think everyone can relate to that pretty well!

It'd be great if they had "Normal Zelda" and "Sheik Zelda" each with different play styles! Laughing

"Gone Home" seems like a love it/hate it kind of game. Some people I know insist I have to play it while others have warned me against it. lol. I admit, I'm not quite as big on "interactive story-book games" these days yet I can appreciate good narrative and endearing characters. To me games such as Mass Effect 2 and Persona 4 are glorified story-book-games with more actual gameplay. Well, that and they throw in that nice "choose your own adventure" angle.
