That Cleopatra Fortune music reminds me of the excellent Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix which I wish I had the soundtrack for.
Elevator Action Returns had to inspire the Exit series. I wish EAR was on handhelds. . . oh, the first Elevator Action game is on Taito Legends Power-Up for PSP. I have to go find that.
Infinite continues is the only way I can play the Darius games. Otherwise I'd scream with frustration.
I thought I recognized something in Chack 'n Pop.
Darn, and I thought there was something similar between Cleopatra's Fortune and Puchi Charat.
Everything about those Darius games is great. Lots of fish designs in the enemy ships. For the benefit of all here's that Captain Neo track.
I played Metal Black today but it didn't make it into my favorites. I found the environments a little to narrow for maneuverability.
Don Doko Don was very nice to look at. I'm on the fence about putting it in my favorites. It played very well though.
I really like Dungeon Magic, but like other brawlers, it eventually infuriated me as I couldn't keep from getting attacked from both sides at once. It's on my favorites anyway.
Elevator Action Returns (or EA II) is really fun. I have to go back to the first one now that I know the objectives. I think I missed out on a good game there.
Read your review. I liked another game like it a little better called Puchi Carat in TL2. You use a paddle like Breakout instead of a launcher like in Bust-A-Move; you also fight your opponent just like in Super Puzzle Fighter; and it has wacky characters you can choose from that do animations as you play just like in SPF.
Yea, Super Puzzle Fighter is the best.
A lot of the games on Taito L2 had really good elements like a great art style or interesting gameplay, but I only put eight of them on my favorites list in the menu system: Arabian Magic, Cleopatra's Fortune, Darius Gaiden, Dungeon Magic, Elevator Action II (or Returns), G-Darius, Lunar Rescue, and Puchi Carat.
It seems several of the games have different titles for the US like Elevator Action Returns is Elevator Action II and Puzzle Bobble 2 is Bust-A-Move. There are probably more too like the Cameltry/On the Ball you mentioned.
Comix Zone is kinda hard. Not being able to continue after being killed is really annoying.
That's what I was thinking when I was putting in the images to this blog. It's easy to rip through a lot of games on these collections of old arcade games. Most of them are pretty short. I'm saving just a few to write more about and replay. Ones that really interest me a lot.
I love the design of the Souls games. Every last pixel and sound bite of them.
I love Demon's Souls but I've gotten absolutely nowhere in it. I found it too hard, but I respect it's combat system. I know I can master it if I put some time into it, and I will, sometime. If an exclusive Demon's Souls game comes to PS4, I'm going to have a hard time resisting getting the system for it.
Damn! I didn't know there were so many of them. I'm going to play one of them sometime. I have Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana on PS2.
Tried this on the copy I have on the Xbox 360. I think I got it for free for some reason I forget. I didn't get into it right away, maybe because it doesn't tell you what to do and challenges you right away, but I'll have to give it another go. Those screen shots are amazing!
