New Years Reviews!

Well Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is really nothing like Labo.  But I got it anyway because I really like Mario Kart and wanted to try it out!  Heck, I know some may say it's weird, but the original Super Mario Kart is still one of my top five favorite games of all time.

Yeah Pinball FX3 has been doing Williams tables for the last couple of years.  Before this volume, they even did my favorite pinball machine of all time: Cirquis Voltaire.  I wish they'd do a collection of all three PinBot tables!

If you looked at Medieval themed media, you'd have a lot to work with, that's for sure!

Of course it's not surprising that you hooked up your Wii if you're going to talk about bowling games!  The best bowling game ever made is on that console!

Back in the 16-bit and 32-bit days, there was a popular bowling game series called Ten Pin Alley.  Did you know they made an Animaniacs version of that?  I've never played it, but I'd like to.

I was lucky enough to play Simpsons Bowling in an arcade once.  A lot of people hate on that game, but my friends and I thought it was fun when we played it.

You gotta get Drill Land!  I love that game so much!  Yeah a lot of people liked Streets of Rage 4 so it's reassuring that I'm not just crazy.  I'm glad I got to review such a popular game.

I liked Twilight Princess a little more when I played the HD version on the Wii U.  But boy, Okami really blew me away when I played it back then.

We might've had similar models of Heathkit TVs, as ours was pretty big, too.  The remote control we had for ours looked like a Star Trek blaster and had switches instead of buttons.  I could never figure out how to use it, so I just used the buttons on the TV.  It's not like we had that many channels anyway back then.

I'm curious about the Blaster Master Zero games, as they were made by Inti Creates.  But I didn't like the original Blaster Master on NES as much as everyone else did, so it's not a big priority for me.

Majora's Mask is one of the few Zelda games I never finished.  I got to the end, but then Banjo-Tooie came along and distracted me!

I reviewed the new Penguin Wars game.  It was so addictive!  I also reviewed that Ninja Warriors game.  Didn't like it as much, but it's not one of my favorite Taito franchises.

I enjoyed Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, until it got to the point you had to collect too many coins to open new levels.

Streets of Rage 4 didn't get my GOTY, but it won the award for best arcade classic remake.  Do be sure to check out my GOTY blog!

Speaking of GOTYs, Okami was my GOTY back in 2006.  I even liked it better than Twilight Princess!

I reviewed that Mummy game but didn't like it.  It was made by WayForward, same folks who did Shantae.  You know the beginning cutscene from the new Shantae game you talked about was done by Trigger.

I wish I had time to play the new Dragon Quest game.  I'd only play it in 16-bit mode, though.

Mario Sunshine is probably my least favorite 3-D Mario, too.  The controls are just too squirrely.  Galaxy is so much better.

ActRaiser is so freaking good.  I rented it a bunch of times back in the day.

I'm playing Hyrule Warriors right now.  I usually play as Urbosa.

DKC3 is a special game for me because it's the first 'big' game I got to review back at The Dallas Morning News.

I don't remember my dad actually BUILDING the TV, I just remember it was the TV we had until I was in high school, and that's a pretty long time to have a TV!  I also remember it had a remote control, which was revolutionary when he first built the TV, although the remote never worked right.  And of course, I remember playing the Pong clone he installed on it, but I was so young I didn't realize it was a video game.  Just someting you did on the TV when there was nothing else on.  Was the Heathkit TV your dad built really huge, like a piece of furniture you sit on the floor?

Ever since I was little, I always wanted a big screen TV.  So a year after I got my Xbox 360 back in 2006, I finally got a big screen flat TV.  I was so happy!  You know that feeling you get when you get something you always wanted?  I'm still using that TV, too!  Hasn't worn out yet!
