I remember this getting poor reviews but always thought the series looked fun.

If only I felt like Popeye after eating Popeye's chicken ...
I really need to play a Fatal Frame game ...
And here I have yet to complete the second game of the original Ace Attorney trilogy.
Maybe I'll go back and play Streets of Rage 4. I had to beat that one on easy cause once I got to the elevator stage I couldn't get past a certain point on normal mode.
We'll see how I feel about TMNT Shredder's Revenge when I actually beat it but it already has an unfair advantage in that I have friends willing to play it with me.
The sequels are definitely more open world but the actual "stealth" in Sly Cooper isn't as slow as actual stealth games and for me it never came anywhere near the difficulty level of a Crash game or disorient me as much as some of those levels ... so I respectfully disagree with that comparison but you're definitely right about both games being linear.
I tend to prefer linear games because they get to the fun part and don't overstay their welcome but I understand the appeal of open world. To each their own. I do think you'd enjoy Sly 2.
I don't know what my top five are off the top of my head but I know I like Super Mario Sunshine quite a bit better than most people do.
Guess I'll have to listen and see if y'all mention some good ones that aren't coming to mind as far as "top 5" worthy for me right this minute!
I'll say this after listening a bit: I prefer the original Sly Cooper because of its linearity ... not really feeling the Crash Bandicoot comparison outside of that though. Those games feel pretty distinct to me.
That's a lot of great games; I want to play River City Girls some time.
I put City Undercover down a while ago because it didn't seem as easy to get a Platinum in, but maybe I'll go back and get it some time.
Thus far, I prefer Shredder's Revenge to Streets of Rage 4 quite a bit. I think the former's soundtrack holds up a lot better when compared to its classic counterpart, the sprites look better to me, I have more fun with the level design, controls are smoother etc.
I'm curious why you like Streets of Rage 4 better. To each their own, just interested in hearing why that's a 10/10 for you but TMNT Shredder's Revenge doesn't quite get there (obviously you mentioned the length being an issue, but what else?)
