What happened? Because I was totally going for the book.

Definitely. I'd wager that WoW will go free to play either when the player base drops below 6 million or when their next MMO comes out. I give Old Republic a year, possibly two if it does really well.
I totally agree that the first game ended up getting a little repetitive and boring as the game went on. Once you see all the necromorphs the game doesn't hold any real surprises for you until the very end.
I think DS 2 does a much better job of getting variety into the game. The pacing is much better, and there are some moments that need to be seen to be believed. So I'd absolutely recommend it to someone that didn't care for the first game too much.
YES! Alan Wake was one of my favorite games of last year. It's the perfect game to do episodic releases through XBLA, and I hope that's what this is. Let this be Alan Wake: Season 2, Episode 1. Please, please, please.
This will be mine. I'm still a huge FF fan, and I can't resist an awesome collector's edition.
I think this generation still has some surprises for us, but when it comes to new IP and ideas, we're probably going to need to wait until the next slate of consoles. But who knows? God of War came out just before the current generation began, and it became one of Sony's most epic franchises to date. It would be cool to get something like that before we move on to the next big thing.
I will be very surprised if it comes in 2012. I think we're going to see a repeat of the previous generation. We got the Dreamcast in 1999, PS2 in 2000, and the Xbox and Gamecube in 2001. I think we'll see Wii U, then the next Xbox, followed by PS4.
I own the first game, but I haven't played it yet. I'm really curious to play them, but at this point there are so many games that I feel like I've missed the boat. But if the next game is set in feudal Japan I might be on board, as my dream is to have this team make the next Tenchu game.
YES! Can't wait for my Limited Edition to come in the mail.
I love, love, love the Norrath games for PS2, and I was hoping for some of that Snowblind magic to hit in this generation. Sad to hear about this, but I may pick this one up on the cheap to play with my Champions of Norrath partner in crime.
