Yeah, "downer endings" in the 60's were not as common. I personally think the original NOTD is still a good film. Haters can hate if they want though!
Glad you're getting into MGS3! I still want to pick up MGS Peace-walker on my psp.
Indeed! Logic wins! "Radical!"
That's pretty much how I reached my decision. It's been on netflix awhile,James!
Heh,wasn't surprised Ebert had issues with the film. I guess we agree on something. But even for the people who like it, I will not judge! Oh,the skeletons I have in my own closet...
NOTLD was a ground breaking film for the 60's,Cary! The 80's remake is pretty good too and I think Resident Evil might have borrowed just a little bit from it.
I actually fell into the trap of "older is better",Chris. Aka, thinking that visiting a movie from the 70's would somehow be more artistic or more deep. I already knew what the movie was about but I wanted to see how well it did it.
For what it's worth, the actress playing as Jennifer gave a great performance. Everything else? Eh, nothing that I consider original or ground shaking. You're right. The themes here have been done better in other movies. (At least in my personal opinion and that opinion doesn't carry much weight on account I'm no Roger Ebert. lol.)
No prob,Kev. Don't worry, when it comes to the nice guy umbrella, I'm right there with you. lol.
What you said is the most important part, really. Whether you're alone or with someone your worth is defined by how hard you try. It's okay to get knocked on your ass so long as you get back up. That's what I tell myself at least.
