Watchmen vs Watchmen

Posted on 08/31/2014 at 10:57 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I totally agree that the casting was spot on. And I have the same complaints. Alan Moore has never shyed away from graphic sex in his books, but it is usually one or two panels. And when the goons are trying to break into Rorschach's cell and he hand cuffs the guy to the door and they cut his arms off was stupid. I forgot what they did in the book, but that was shameless over kill in my opinion. As for them being super powered, I felt that even in the book these folks are above average in a fist fight. Its not so much that they are super strong as they are very skilled and naturals at fighting. But the movie did seem to exagerate their abilities. And I feel they could have still made the alien invasion ending work with out diving too deep into the subplot. They tried to modernize the ending and to me that steals from the atmospere of the story. This is supposed to be a cold war era alternate universe early 80's setting which fit perfect with the original ending. But that said as for a film adaption of a comic I thought they did a pretty damn good job compared to a lot of others like say all of the X-men flicks, complete butchery.

Fuck Nintendo.

That is steep, but I have noticed that even here in the states that Nintendo's core title games almost never go down in price. A new copy of Mariocart DS still cost $35, and the used copy will be $29. That game is old as shit. And its the same with Smash Bros for the Wii. I have wanted to repurchase Wind Waker for the Cube and the used game shop has like 6 copies at $45 a pop. Its just crazy.

The Weekender Memorial Weekend 2014 Edition

I 'm kind of getting a little burned out on Skyrim, I may jump back into the copy of Super Mario Bros Wii my friend let me barrow. Maybe.

I finished all six seasons of The Guild which were funny as hell. Checked out Code Monkeys and a couple of new anime on netflix, Psycho Pass and Noragami. Code Monkey is crazy but pretty good. Psycho Pass is pretty intense, distopian future setting where people are constantly scanned for criminal thoughts so they can catch them before they commit a crime. Similar to Minority report, but it throws a curve ball into the mix. Noragami is a comedy about a minor and almost unknown Shinto god trying to make a name for himself, but he gets no respect.

I have been reading my old TMNT comics, something I like to do usally once a year. Still digging through Cosmos too.

Nothing too fancy in the food department for me, doing salads at night. Mixed greens, cherry tomatos, carrots, bell pepper, and some mild goat cheese or blue cheese, no dressing needed. I usally throw some cachews or pastachios on there too.

Yeah, I admit I did like Carmen Sandiego. I had a soft spot for geography when I was a kid, still kind of do. But putting math in a game is just criminal. lol Yet the idea of using games as a teaching tool is totally legit. Its just most of those games were being designed by teachers not game designers. There has to be a balence of fun and learning for it to work.

Man, sorry to hear life is droppin it on you. I hope your cat gets better. I know how scary it can be when they get sick and there is no money to take care of them. Just remember that the good always follows the bad. Smile

It seems to have started out as a web series and found its way onto netflix. The episodes are only 15 minutes. But it is hilarious.

Nice haul. Lootcrate sounds fun, but I got way to much "stuff" as it is. My tiny apartment would fill up fast.
