Mystery Gifts: Some Powerful Purchases

The Jak trilogy's awesome. I got the Fallout 3/New Vegas GOTY/Ultimate Editions. They were on sale so it was cheaper than getting the DLC separately. Also plan to get Luigi's Mansion Sunday and maybe a 3DS XL. Considered getting a Wii U, but want to wait until there's some deal on that ZombiU bundle where either NSMBU is included or I'll save enough to buy NSMBU with it.

Nitronic Rush looks awesome, I'll have to give that a go. I'd so be down for Satonic Mountain 2, but I need to play Silent Hill 2 first. And yes, I know exactly what you're talking about with Super Crate Box. Makes me glad I got the iOS version with a virtual D-Pad, I don't know if I could pry myself from a version with a real D-Pad and buttons.

Improving on the Great Tomb Raider

I definitely agree with the dinosaurs. I loved all the supernatural things in the other TR games. I haven't played the new one yet, but everyone seems to be saying how the platforming's basic, so that's something I'd want to see improved. Give the challenge and timing the old TR games needed.

Game Wish List [For the Next Generation of consoles]

Nice list. If I were to pick something like this, it would be a 60's Spiderman game. Everything Spidey says would be based off one of those 60's Spiderman cartoon memes. It would be hilarious to hear a villain threaten him and he responds, "Fuck you I'm Spiderman."

I'd like a way to delete all messages at once or mark them as read if you're not working on it. That would be awesome

Well, it's not about them being more credible. It's more that there should only be one GOTY Edition each year. It could be substituted with any well known award, I just picked them because despite their bullshit award show, they make good choices for GOTY.

I had fun with Castlevania. Not my favorite in the series or something I'd hold onto, but it was a fun little game.

Outsider looking in perspective:

I still want to play the new Tomb Raider. My two issues with this one though is that the platforming seems like a huge step down and they're removing the supernatural stuff like giant monsters and dinosaurs. It feels like it's trying too hard to pander to the AAA market, but it still looks fun.

As for what we said before, I'm not saying she shouldn't have been changed, just that it's awkward when she freaks over killing someone, then is taking out a small army. This doesn't necessarily ruin a story, but it does make one worse and is clumsy storytelling.

Yeah, but why can't there be a new take where the gameplay and story reflect one another? They could have given Lara a personality where you believe she can take out this many people while keeping her human or made the gameplay reflect that she was not a killer. Not saying this necessarily makes the games bad, just nothing I would consider good video game storytelling and something we shouldn't ignore because, "The game is fun."

I gotta side with Macho on this. It's just awkward taking a middle ground where they act like they've never killed before, then take out a small army. Either make the story reflect how serious of a problem that is, accept how unrealistic it is and go with it, or have the gameplay be done where every kill happens rarely and feels significant. Hell, the series has been about platforming, why couldn't they just have her find ways to climb around guards?

Not saying that makes the game bad either. I haven't played TR and will probably enjoy it (though probably not as much as the last 3 TR games). But to have a story that's the complete opposite of the gameplay just sounds wrong to me.
