You're right, Mechner wrote the script for the movie. That's a plus. Otherwise the story would have been as atrocious as some other VG movies (ahem, Street Fighter and Tomb Raider).
Not just Ridley, but Kraid, space pirates, and Mother Brain too! With CGI effects, they would look incredible. This needs to be done.

I've also seen the Prof. Layton movie, and yes, it's great. I've heard very good things about the Phoenix Wright movie; it adheres very closely to the first PW game, and that's a good thing, since the writing is incredible. I hope they bring it stateside.
