My version of March Madness

Chris, you should check out the Iditarod website sometime. They have a great section that talks about the history of the race and what they were trying to accomplish by starting the race. And I highly recommend Gary Paulsen's book Winterdance.

And we get about that here in Maine, too. I follow on the website and on Facebook, otherwise I'd get no news other than two lines hidden somewhere in the local paper about the winner.

Kind of a serious topic (Not too serious I hope!)

Sigh. If people just started looking at each other as human beings instead of at the color of their skin or their religion, the world would be so much better. Jason's boss, who happens to be African-American, was making life so miserable for another employee that he quit. The issue? He was biracial. I wish more people thought about and acted on MLK's "I have a dream" speech where he talks about people being judged on the content of their character and not on the color of their skin. And I refuse to feel guilt over something that I had nothing to do with. We should learn from past mistakes and use that to make a better world, not wallow in guilt. It just perpetuates the whole "White man's burden" attitude from the previous centuries.

Good job on your goals! I've been stocking my house with fruit instead of candy for my sweet tooth, and trying to eat more veggies and less pasta and processed quick meals. It's hard, because I live by myself (by choice!) and cooking for one isn't a whole lot of fun. It's so much easier to just open a box of mac&cheese than to cook a real dinner.

Good choice on Mini Ninjas. I really liked that game, it's pretty easy, boss battles are fairly simple QTEs, but it was cute. Mini Ninja's name is Sho, by the way.

And on to my pet peeve at this time of year: It's PaDDy with two Ds. Yes, it does make a difference. Patrick is the anglicization of the Irish name Padraig, hence PaDDy. Patty is short for Patricia, or is something you put in a bun. I come from a long line of Patricks, all the way back to the potato famine in ireland when they emigrated to New Brunswick, and they've all been called Paddy.

They make a higher profit margin on used games than they do on new games, so unless you specify, you're going to get the used copy. Don't blame the employees, they're just following "guidelines" and if they don't, they get dinged for it. Same with trying to sell you pre-orders and all the other extra crap that they push. I once worked for what was a really nice little local chain of video rentals stores that go bought out by a big corporation. Our manager got fired because we weren't pushing enough of their package deals on our customers (who didn't want them anyway and that's why they came to our store). The entire staff quit in protest, and all they did was bring in people from other stores to staff the place.

So yes, Game Stop sucks, but don't blame the employees for the carppy policies.

Three and half weeks of working before my first paycheck hits. And I owe my wonderful landlady oodles for letting me pay my other bills and eat before rent got paid. I'm behind by over a month :(

I don't have a lot of hard drive space left, and no money, either, so I'm ok without the update.

Oh, dear. here we go again. I wish people could just learn to enjoy things for what they are and not try and shove an agenda that I'm not interested in down my throat.

Yes, yes it is. I'll finish it, though. And then I'll sell it to KnightDriver so he can be disappointed, too. Misery loves company!
