I have to admit, you're right. I think we all cringe when we hear of a VG movie being made. Will it be terrible? Probably. If the time comes when we hear of these movies being made, we will all be worried that they might be terrible. But they don't have to be.
Sick awesome or sick gross? lol. Anyways, Metroid movie could easily be epic, if the right team does it.
You're right, Nintendo did not want John Woo and his team to mess up the character of Samus, so instead they messed it up!
Van Helsing came to my mind too for a Castlevania movie. It can be done.
He must have really enjoyed playing the lead in that movie. Just imagine how worse the second movie would have been; it might even have topped the terrible Double Dragon movie lol

The art style is great. I love the expressions on the faces of the fighters (that is something the original game could not do very well due to the limited hardware of the NES).
