Super Reviews!

I wouldn't mind it if they would give you more time to figure out which button does what.

Speaking of cooking games, right now I'm playing a game for review where you're a bartender and must mix and serve drinks to customers in a dystopian sci-fi future.  It's interesting so far.  The game is called VA-11 Hall-A.  Ever heard of it?

I know it's bad for me to say this, but if they're not selling well, it just means they'll be easier for me to get!  :)  They must still be selling well enough is Nintendo is still making them.

Paradise is Still 19 Million Miles Away - Blaster

I had never heard of this game either, until I played it on one of the early Midway arcade collections.  This particular collection had an interview with Eugene Jarvis and that's where he said it was kind of a sequel/spinoff to Robotron.

Another interesting story he told was about the cabinet that Blaster came in.  It was a large cylinder plastic cabinet that you could interchange games with.  But since it was also plastic, it had a tendancy to warp.  And when they got a complaint from an arcade owner that a warped plastic cabinet caused a screen to shoot out of it and hit the DK Jr. machine, they decided not to make anymore.

I did see one of those plastic cabinets with Blaster inside when I visited a traveling arcade museum when I was in college.  After hearing that story, though, I was a little afraid to play it!  :)

Wow!  I can't believe there were that many games in those series!  Those were certainly games I never kept up with, though.

Yeah there was a Taz-Mania Saturday morning cartoon in the early 90's.  It starred Taz and his family and friends, most of which were based on other Austrailian animals.  It wasn't that great, but it did pave the way for better WB cartoons like Animaniacs and Batman: The Animated Series.  I don't know how much the Genesis game was based on the cartoon, but the SNES game had characters from it.

Yeah when I was in college, I was the worst I've ever been financially.  When I got out of college, I even went a tiny bit overboard buying games I missed.  But once I got a job, I've been taking steps since then to help keep me from being that low on money again.

Since I didn't have a Genesis as a kid, I never had this game, but I know I played a little bit of it at a demo kiosk in a store back then.

The SNES had a Taz-Mania game, too, but it was a totally different game.  You ran on a road in pseudo 3-D or something.  I never played it because it was too expensive to buy and I don't remember ever seeing it for rent at the rental places.
