As for dark souls, I've done the gameplay, but I had some issues with fraps which caused me to lose pretty much all of the video content. I didn't do anything really significant like beat a boss, but I did level up a few times and die a fair bit. I'll be at a significantly higher level next time you see me lol.
Even knowing it's fake can mess you up, especially the lengths some of them go to.
On a side note, google "Smurf Porn." I guarantee you will laugh until you cry. The guy is painted blue, and while the chick is blowing him, the paint starts coming off... late on in the vid a group of smurfs come to circle jerk on her and they whistle the theme song... I fucking died when I saw it lol.
No apparently they're working on another batman game. They're changing things up a bit and taking a different approach to batman, maybe even doing a silver age of comics version. Either way, they are working on another batman game, so yeah.

If you're going to have an open world, at least make it interesting. The Asylum in AA was a character unto itself, whereas the city felt lifeless and bland.
Agree totally about the plot being unfocused. That was my biggest gripe with Arkham Asylum.
Batman can work in an open world, I just think he hasn't so far. The things you mentioned would be awesome, but I doubt we'll see that kind of depth from warner brothers.

I really enjoyed the DMC reboot as well. Siren is decent, but not amazing. It is scary, but the plot is meh, and so is the gameplay for the most part. DMC would be my choice. It's one of the most stylish games I've played this year.
I would have honestly been fine with just Asylm. And City is repetitive too. I got bored a lot quicker in City than Asylum. I just felt it mirrored the feel of metroid prime more, which I really liked.
