Pixlbit, 1up, and sappy shit

As you can see, you are very well liked around these parts.  You've always been cool with me too since the 1Up days. and I totaly agree...I really miss some of the heavy hitters of 1Up like Alice and Cody Winn.  If memory serves correctly, once 1Up announced it was going away, Alice decided that she just bring herself to invest the time and energy into a gaming community blog site anymore.  I wonder if she exists somewere else under a new name?

Nerds Without Pants?

I spoke with Julian maybe about 2 weeks ago. And yeah, the nerds are on a hiatus at the moment.  I don't have any additional info at the moment.  But I'm sure they'll return when the time is right.

My 2005

Posted on 10/15/2015 at 08:28 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Ah yes, the Xbox 360.  I remember the fateful night I purchased it sometime in December of 2005 about two weeks before Christmas. I remember the systems were very hard to find around then because everydoy was snatching them up for the holidays.  I got a phone call from my friend alerting me he just left Target and overheard an employee on the phone with his buddy telling him to get over there because they had a small shipment come in and the 360's were selling like crazy.

So my friend picked me up at my house and we drove back to Target.  It had been at least 30 minutes since my friend had called me, so I was skeptical that I'd actually come home with a 360 that night. Upon inquiring of the availability of the system, the clerk in Electronics sheepishly confirmed that there was just one more system in the stock room.  I couldn't believe it!  I said "I'll take it". I'll never forget-- the store clerk looked upset and said, "but its $400 dollars".  And with even more excitment, I said "I'll take it"!  I think he was trying to reserve that last one for a friend (or himself), and since I've always looked younger than my actual age, he was probably puzzled as to how this "kid" could possibly afford an Xbox 360 Premium without blinking an eye. I also purchased my first 3 games for that system too-- Kameo: Elements of Power, Perfect Dark Zero, and Ridge Racer 6.

The fact that I got the last 360 console at that time period made it all the sweeter and memorable. Lastly, I recall seeing a frantic middle-aged woman as I was trying to quickly make my way to the exit without anyone noticing what I just purchased (remember...it was a highly sought after item for Christmas).  The woman saw the big Target bag and instictively knew what I just purchased.  She asked "Do they have any more? Please tell me they do"! Seeing the desperate look in her eyes, I just didn't have the heart to tell her I just purchased the last one....plus I was really paranoid that sghe'd fight me for it.  All I could manage to say was "ask the clerk if they have it in stock".  Phew...crisis averted-- for me anyway.

Sorry my comment was so long!  But it was a good memory that I haven't talked about since it first happened back in my 1Up years!

Destiny Shame, Durarara, & Other Stuff

I'm still looking for "that game" that will convince me I need a PS4.  At one time, I thought Destiny might be the ticket, but I haven't felt the motivation to get into to it.  I think I might be past my prime with online multiplayer games.  Even so, I have many friends that play Taken King all the time and I always hear about their adventures.  Must be a good game.

Jumping Flash! Review

Yeah, don't mind the haters.  Yes, you can find Jumping Flash on PSN for $5.99.  You'd probably have a great time with this game.  It's a little on the easy side overall, but still fun to just move around in that 3D environment while leaping to greater heights.

Captain N is Mario Making

I'm still on teh fence about Mario Maker.  I don't doubt that it's a excellent game....I just doubt if I'll make full use of it.  I'm terrible at the create-your-own genres of games.  Of course, half of the fun is playing through levels that others created.  I'm just lacking the motivation to spend full price for it.

But I still hope Mario Maker does as well as Nintendo had hoped.

Jumping Flash! Review

Yeah, Jumping Flash 2 might have been difficult to get into to because it wasn't as much a leap forward (pardon the pun) as it could have been.  It felt more like Jumping Flash 1.5 instead of benifide sequel.  Still a good game for me though.

I think your ideas for a future Jumping Flash game are brilliant!  A robotic kangaroo with smaller joey-bot?  That kind of stuff is right up my alley!  Now you got me wishing they would have done something like that in JF 2.
