I was not aware either until I saw the cover art for it in a story on Kotaku about Sony changing th packeging on PS3 games. I just asumed it was likely only being released in Japan, and the very next they say its coming stateside.

You don't, but all the gear in Borderlands is randomaly generated. All gun are have five parts, body, barrol, grip, stock, and magazine. The make of the gun is determined by the body. So if the body is a Maliwan, it can have a Vladov barrol and a Hyperion grip, but it is still a Maliwan gun. There are some very hardcore players who actually hunt for guns that are 100% pure, no mixed parts.lol. You can also see that certain parts will effect the prefix for the gun too. Like guns fitted with bayonets will be called Bowie(Jacobs), Permasharp(Tediore), Close Quaters(Dahl). If if you looking for a sniper with a nice bonus to Crititcal damage you looking for prefixes like Tum Tum(Jacobs), Gentlemans(Maliwan), Razrez(Vladof). This makes figuing out whether a gun is worth keeping or not a lot easier. I wish you could customize then though, that would be really cool. A lot of people have mentioned this would be a cool idea to do in Borderlands 3, when or if that happens, lol.
They each have their own set of achievements though. They have very unique playstyles which keeps things interesting. The mechromancer has her own personal attack robot, and she can get a crazy boost to gun power with her Anarchy skill. The Psyco is a melee geared beast, he can survive near death better than any other class and actually use Fight for your life like a speacial attack. They are both worth getting in my opinion. The commando is pretty cool, I have mine built to drop two turrets and I can stick them on walls to create pinch points.
It can get overwhelming for sure. Once you start to see the unqie feature of each brand and the types of guns that work with your build or class it gets easier. Like I prefer Jacobs and Togure shotguns to other shotguns because of the raw power. Certain makes seem almost made for certain classes like Bandit made guns with their massive ammo capacity are actually ideal for a Zerker. You don't want to have to reload when you gunzerking, and he has skills that can make up for the lack of accuracy and fire rate that make Bandit guns so crappy. It gets more complicated though, each gun can have parts from other brands that have subtle effects on a guns stats. Like a Tediore grip might give the gun a faster reload, a Dahl stock will give the gun better stability, a Vladov barrel can imprive fire rate. This is what make this game so fun to me is the massive variety.
I love a good IPA. I have seen Terrapin beer before, I need to give it a try.
The Siren is a blast to play with. The Mechromancer is my favorite although in a lopsided tie with the Siren. Next is a tie between the Zerker and the Comando. Last is Zero and Krieg. Admittedly Krieg the spyco is pretty fun to play as but he is very quirky.I ve only got him to about lv38.
The trick to Terramo is two pieces of equipment, a Bee shield and a Conference Call shotgun. Even in TVHM this should do the trick . I have solo'd him this way several times.
Kotaku gave it a pretty fair reveiw, so I will have to see what money looks like come then. I have not played a Deception game since the PS1 days. So I'm pretty excited to see this.
Its a really cool game mechanic. Never understood why it did not catch on like stealth games did. It's similar in that you are using indirect methods to get through or overcome enemies.
It really is a fun game. I gave my copy of Deception 2 to my friend as a B-day gift becaue he liked it so much. I thought I could scoop another copy easy enough. I was wrong, used copies on ebay can go for $40+. I agree, I wish developers were more willing to expiriment more.
Yeah, they only released one game state side on the PS2 and it was called Trapt, so a lot of people like myself were not even aware it was a Deception game. Glad to see Tecmo is keeping it alive.
Yeah its a very unique game. Kind of flew under the radar for a lot of people. I had Deception 2 for PS1, it could be fun and frustrating as hell all at the same time, lol.
