It's your lucky day! Shantae and the Seven Sirens just recently came out! As for ReCore, the connection the dev had to Metroid Prime was part of the official marketing. They even put it on the back of the box!

I guess I'm on a WayForward kick. I could probably dig up a couple more from the ol' backlog lol. I ordered a physical copy of Seven Sirens as well and, yeah, it will probably be a couple months. As for River City Girls, I'm just glad my wife has stuck with me on it. We've had a few depressing defeats but we're definitely enjoying it overall.
Risky's Revenge could have, like, four or five layers to hop between. Not my favorite set up but at least they used it for confusing puzzles. It made for a confusing map too. I'm playing Pirate's Curse right now and really like it. Glad they went with a standard Metroidvania-style map. The game just feels right.
(Twitter tells me I have an extra day due to technical difficulties. Hopefully this is seen in time. Sorry you guys had to go through that though. Sucks to lose a whole night.)
Stage Select: I think Castlevania would make for an awesome turn-based RPG. The series already has a rich lore of characters and monsters to pull from and there is precedent for the use of all kinds of weapons and magic. Give me, say, a four-person party and a fun twist on the art style (I don't want realism; how about a gothic painting style like the box art for Symphony and the GBA games?) and I think you'd have a winner. This would also work as a dungeon crawler, delving deeper into Dracula's castle each time, but I'd rather have a straight RPG.
Cage Match: I've always been very fond of Crystalis but I gotta give this one to Silius for its killer soundtrack.
I wish I could play Indivisible soon but I'm pretty sure it is going to sit for a while I got it for a really good price.
You have sure got your money's worth out of Game Pass, eh?
Man, for me to fork out $60 for a brand new game, it really has to pull me in. I'm still not sure I'm down with stretching Midgar out to 60 hours of gameplay. It's sure pretty though! I'd like to get it sometime...but how can that compete with old Mega Man game??
It was a great month for sales! I guess the companies felt sorry for everyone stuck at home lol.
Initially I had wanted to get Indivisible on Switch but yeah, it's fairly pricey. But I got a like new PS4 copy for $17 and, much like Cosmic Star Heroine, the trophy list is pretty easy if you're paying attention. So it seemed worth it to me to get it on PS4.
As I mentioned on Twitter, I am behind on all my podcasts because I've been home so much lately. I haven't even started this episode yet but I do love music Stage Selects, so I wanted to get my picks on.
Stage Select:
I have not played Ys VIII or, sadly, any Ys games (I don't even have any in my sizable backlog!) but I would play this game just for this awesome music. It's so happy and energetic and upbeat. This is one of those songs I can listen to as an extended youtube video and not notice as the time flies by.
This, actually, is my all-time favorite song. Not Melodies of Life from FFIX, though that version is very good. I mean this solo piano arrangement specifically. I'm not sure why it has always affected me so much but even as a self-important stoic high school student, this song always gave me the feels and still does. It's just so beautiful. What's espcially cool is that the sheet music is freely available online and back in the day I could play the first half of the song on the piano...before it got too difficult lol.
Cage Match:
I have never played either of these games in the arcade (I'm more an X-Men kind of guy myself) but I have played the NES port of the Turtles arcade game and so I'm gonna go with that. So as I see it the Turtles step into the ring and mistake with the residents of Springfield...wherever...for grotesque mutants because of their yellow skin and proceed to beat the crap out of everyone. It's over pretty quick.
P.S. That picture is amazing!
That was such a cool boss! The bosses in that game are by and large quite good, other than the one you fight while running on the highway. Not a fan of that one.
