Issue 124 Part Two: Boomstick Edition

Posted on 05/30/2013 at 05:47 PM | Filed Under Feature

A big part of Cloverfield were the hop-ons that were the prawn. If you recall, they pretty much would lay eggs in people when they bit them, then the people would explode and there would be more of those things. The zombie suggestion was just a simple way to suggest something like that, so even away from the big monsters, you wouldn't necessarily be safe.

All right, everyone, you know what my post means. Good news, bad news time. Good news, the second half of this issue is going to be released. Bad news: I literally just got home from a longer-than-expected day, so that second half is being delayed until tomorrow. Until then, I suppose you can just listen to this first half four or five times!

The Best Buttons of All Time

B.U.T.T.O.N definitely deserves an honorable mention. I believe it's been released as an Xbox Live indie title, but the game makes good use of buttons in non conventional ways.

Naturally, I have bad news. I was intending to record tonight, while doing some house-sitting. Except I forgot to bring the mic. Which means no recording. However, next week's PB & Jason will be packed. It will have coverage of the Nintendo Direct that happens tomorrow, the Xbox unveil that's coming up, and the massive crazy game idea stuff.

I'm sorry for the delay, everyone. It's my mistake, and the worst part is I think I forgot the mic the last time I house-sat, too. Funny stuff, albeit sad.

Hey everyone! Are there any more submissions for the podcast?

It looks like the next PB & Jason will be a day late (that means tomorrow,) because I spent more time than I intended with family today. It's also possible that PB & Jason might be moved to Thursday due to some reoccuring plans that might begin soon. We'll see. Would anyone object to the switch?

Anyway, the most important thing remains that you give some great ideas. I haven't looking into transmet2033's suggestion yet, but as far as the rest of the suggestions go, I've got some brilliant thoughts already. Keep 'em coming!

Issue 122: Is a Kinect Worth Over $2,000 and Your Dignity?

Good news, bad news podcast time! The good news? I didn't put off making PB & Jason this week, and I started working on show prep and all that in a timely manner. The bad news is that I just don't feel like I've found enough for a show to be produced today, despite things like what's going on with EA, exclusive licensing, and also the Wii U. I could probably sit there and talk a lot about video games and violence, but at this point, it would mostly be redundant from what you've heard already. Given those are the two main things I've found, I'm going to wait one more day before making this week's PB & Jason.

For once, it wasn't due to procrastination, but rather, low inspiration. I have some ideas to come up with some compelling stuff I can use to beef up the issue if it comes to it, but they need a little more time in the easy-bake oven that is my mind.

I really haven't liked either of the Galifianakis SNLs. I just don't mesh with his humor. I've honestly been surprised by this season's SNL episodes, a few of them have been a bit better than they typically are, including the first half or so of Vince Vaugn's, IMO. The worst part about it is that I've really started to notice when the actors are looking at cue cards at an angle. It's clear they aren't speaking to the audience or themselves, but really, just reading. That's always lame, but I know it's a part of their massive schedule, sure.

On a different note, Catching Fire was probably the best Hunger Games book to me. There was some sincerely inventive and clever stuff in there. The last book just doesn't feel as solid, IMO. Don't worry, I won't spoil anything.

I'll be recording one tonight. Sure, it's late, been a busy day. It'll be up very late, but still what I'd call tonight, even though not everyone would.

Some weeks are just off weeks for PB & Jason. This week is one of those off weeks. I promise I'll talk about Nintendo's lack of a major press conference at E3 next week, though. I have some very solid ideas about that I don't think other people have really stated yet.
