If I could drive, I'd go to GameStop and get them for you.

Yeah don't get that SEGA Genesis console, it's awful.  The sound is way off and only half are actual Genesis games.

If you don't like how Bumper the Badger controls, try Tiptup the Turtle.

No, believe it or not, I did NOT like it when Slimier got his own cartoon.  It was awful.  Kids sure did love Slimer, though.

The Real Ghostbusters cartoon itself was very good, though.  One of the best 80's cartoons out there.  They got away with some things that surprised me!

I was tempted to check it out when I got Namco Museum Essentials and saw I got Home rewards, but I still never messed with it.

Well it certainly was a whirlwind tour.  I didn't see EVERYTHING at the parks, but I got to do pretty much most everything I wanted to.  Plus I'm a lot tougher than I look and can plow through things and stay a long time at these places.

Retro Game of the Week: Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Posted on 10/11/2014 at 12:09 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I didn't like Sonic 2 much more that Sonic 1, but it did have a couple of good things going for it.  First was Tails.  I really liked this new character right off the bat, and it made me pay attention to this game. The other cool thing about this game was the Casino Night Zone.  After playing that area, I wished SEGA would make a whole game out of that zone, which they did and it ended up being one of my favorite Sonic games ever (Sonic Spinball).  Oh yeah, and the Chemical Plant Zone music was pretty slick.

But yeah, Tails is the best character SEGA ever created.  Only other ones that come close to being as cool are Ulala and Ristar.

This Ghostbusters video game is one of the best movie-based games ever made. Probably the closest thing we'll get to a Ghostbusters 3.

The attention to detail is great.  They even had a Q*bert machine in the second floor of the fire house (I wish it was playable).

I also like the kid's drawings on the first floor.  My favorite was one of Slimer that read "Slimer ate 50 hot dogs."

That's cool that you got to see the New York Public Library.  One of the areas that they made genuinely creepy was the children's section!  Especially when you hear the ghost children whispering about you!  Yikes!

Another cool thing is that the 360 version was developed by a game company called Terminal Reality, which is located just a few miles from my house!

Does it make me weird that my favorite Ghostbusters characters were Slimer and Janine?

Oh, and does anyone else remember Ecto-Cooler?  It was a Hi-C fruit drink that had Slimer on the box.  I drank a ton of that stuff as a kid.  It was nectar of the gods.

Game Plans this Weekend: Diddy Force Memories

My favorite characters to use in Diddy Kong Racing were Bumper the Badger and Tiptup the Turtle.

DKR was a great game, but it was also the N64 game that caused me to get a PSOne, the first non-Nintendo console I ever owned.  You see, DKR was that year's big holiday N64 release, and while it was a good game, it wasn't good enough to carry the system through a holiday season.  The PSOne had much more promising games, so even though I couldn't afford it at the time (I was a poor college student), I bought a PSOne anyway.  One of the smartest purchases I ever made, as I was reviewing PSOne games left and right for a couple of newspapers after that.
