It depends on the game for me. Things like a Call of Duty are basically one and done experiences, but a lot of the big, event-filled triple A titles I own I plan on revisiting. I was still impressed with the first two God of War games when I played the HD versions, for example.
So, I rarely use YouTube the way you're describing, but I wouldn't beat yourself up over it. If anything, it's like using the radio. There was plenty of music that I jammed out to on the radio but never went out and bought the albums for. I think it's a great way to discover music though. I wouldn't be the rabid fan of Within Temptation and Nightwish if it wasn't for YouTube. I watched the music video for The Howling and was hooked instantly.
I've also ended up buying songs or getting turned on to artists because someone made a music video with their song. That's why I always cringe when I hear about videos getting taken down for copyright infringement, because it's a clear example of old men not understanding that free publicity is lucrative publicity.
As much as I am anti-piracy (as evidenced by this week's Nerds Without Pants), I don't see anything wrong in this situation. As far as I'm concerned, had you bought the game on the PC in Australia and found a mod to uncensor the game it would have been the same net result. I'm as anti-censorship as I am anti-piracy, but when they are pitted against each other I'll vote anti-censorship every time.
She's a friend. Er, was a friend. It's complicated. I used to play Pathfinder with her an a group.
I am a strong supporter of murdering annoying helper characters. This needs to be a thing.
I did a Google image search for "lol Lightning Returns".
Seriously.
I didn't dislike BioShock 2, but it didn't hold my attention long enough to finish it. I dunno...I'm a huge fan of sequels, but I really felt like BioShock told its story and didn't need another one. And like I said, I would have preferred if Infinite wasn't part of the BioShock franchise but its own entity.
No one ever gives Invincible any love, but it is my favorite comic book of the past 20 years. It takes super hero tropes and turns them on their head while combining incredible characterization and epic battles. Oh, and it's from the writer of The Walking Dead, who has worked with the same artist for nearly the entire series.
That's a great point about Olga. Due to the way we played the game in sessions that were pretty spread out, I think we just forgot about that part. I still ended up forgetting about Olga in general simply because I think she was the least fleshed out character by far.
Thank you so much for listening, and for giving us some interesting things to weave into this final discussion. I hope you'll stick around PixlBit and check out some of our other shows and articles. Oh, and tell your friends!
