BaD #1 - or maybe just sad

Your grandmother sounds like she was a fascinating person, Tami. I'm sorry for your loss.

BaD One: Destiny Install

It took all afternoon and evening for me to install the destiny legendary edition with all the dlc. The compatibility packs probably took the longest.

Rangergirl's 2015 in gaming

I still love the setting of the first AC game. I finished Arkham City back during the summer I think, I had a lot of fun with that one and the dlc.

Thanks, Travis, and it was good to hear from you too!

That's actually the exact same thing our physics professor told us on day one of class in the introduction lecture. He was saying that it would be better if people were taught calculus and physics in a much more intertwined way. He thinks that students get educated in these subjects as if they're seperate, and it makes it tougher for their minds to be flexible and use the math in the critical thinking sort of way you need to when you eventually get into a physics class.

Mike's 2015 Update

Thanks, Nicole!

I was surprised with how many games I finished this summer. I really tried to turn my brain off and relieve some stress that had built up, and before I knew it I had knocked a lot of games off my backlog. It was unusual because most of the time when I look at my backlog and try to figure out how to tackle it I end up getting overwhelmed and I play none of them.

Happy holidays and happy birthday to your dad, Joe!

A couple days ago Microsoft released a statement saying Tomb Raider sold "good" I think their term was lol, but I highly doubt it. For all intents and purposes it seems like an incredible game and it did really well critically, but it was sent out to die in that packed fall lineup. It came out the same day as Fallout and was bookended by Halo a week or two earlier and Battlefront a week or two after. I doubt Tomb Raider sold well. I think they probably should have held onto the game and released it sometime early next year, but then again I don't know what their contracts look like or if they had flexibility to do that.

Episode 77: Fantasy Gear

Posted on 12/15/2015 at 06:14 PM | Filed Under Feature

Did Julian say his girlfriend's birthday is on the 18th of this month? If so mine is also!

I bought Metal Gear V about a week ago when our semester ended and I've been playing it a lot since then. I'm on episode 10 and I've done a lot of the side ops that have popped up so far. I'm probably 15 hours in, I can't remember. I like it a lot so far and I think it's a fun open world stealth game. I don't like Big Boss' voice so far and I'm still waiting for more story to happen, but I think I'm enjoying the sandbox enough that I could probably stick with it to the end so I can see how the story turns out.

I played Peace Walker for the HD collection and I quit playing it at exactly the same point as Julian. In PW I also didn't like the interface or any of the management sim stuff with Motherbase. I've been surprised that I'm actually enjoying that stuff in Phantom Pain so far. This game definitely seems like a big open world console interation of what they did in Peace Walker, but the things about PW that turned me off seem more palatable this time around. I enjoy hunting down skilled soldiers and fultoning them out. It kind of becomes a tertiary objective during missions. Phantom Pain isn't necessarily the same Metal Gear I fell in love with in 2 and 3, but it's a cool open world stealth thing and I'll stick with it to see what happens.

I haven't played Halo 5 yet, and it pains me to say but I think I've become a casual Halo fan ever since Halo 4. Leading up to Halo 4 I had read all the novels and I was certain I would be prepared for the game but when that campaign ended I was scratching my head. I didn't like how they turned the Chief into a chosen one. Halsey and Cortana (Halsey's brain clone) had always told the Chief that the one thing he had on his side that none of the other Spartans did was luck, but it never went further than that. In Halo 4 the Librarian told him he was essentially the chosen one and his coming was planned all along. I don't like any of that.

Ever since Halo 4 I've continued to buy the novels but I haven't caught up on the newest ones. I've fallen into a casual fandom of this current Halo trilogy that's unfolding.

If that wasn't weird enough, things are taking a dark turn lately and I've actually been wanting to get the Legendary version of Destiny that came out this year (basically a GOTY edition) with all the expansions. I'm a Halo casual now and I might end up a Destiny player soon, what is even happening...

Episode 76: Mother's Day

Posted on 11/25/2015 at 04:06 PM | Filed Under Feature

Really happy to hear this back! I missed the show a lot, but I made the decision back when Julian's mother passed to not bother you guys on twitter about it and just give you your space. I thought that if the show ever came back in the future it would be in due time and no sooner. I'm just the one goon that happens to comment the most, but I can probably say with some amount of certainty that many more people than myself missed you guys, and it's good to hear all of you in front of the mic again. We love and appreciate you.

I'm still in college and haven't been able to get a PS4 or XB1 yet, so I've been playing backlogged stuff, and occasionally new games that are cross-gen. I'd like to play the new Tomb Raider this holiday, that's probably the game I'm most excited for. When the previous TR game went up for free on Games With Gold I played through it and absolutely loved it. I want to get my hands on Metal Gear 5 as well but I'll save that till after TR since Metal Gear seems like much more of a time sink.

School has been going well, although it's been the toughest semester by far. I have calculus and calc-based physics together, and the next semester (in spring) will be the same thing but with the next classes in the sequence. Altogether I'll have a full year of calc and physics before I'm ready to transfer. Around this time next year I should be out of state at my next school programming a game finally.

At some point in a future episode I would love to hear Patrick talk about how school has been going. I remember him saying some time ago he was going into a Masters program and I thought that was fascinating!
