The corruption runs pretty deep, Chris. It's even bad in the indie game community. Aka,if you know the "right people" you can get a crap game accolades but if you don't your game could be this best thing ever and still be obscure.
However,gamer-gate has accomplished a lot of good. Gawker is practically on life support. (And by extension Kotaku & Polygon aren't doing all that great either.) GG has also done a lot for charity & several more gamer friendly sites have spawned into existence or have gotten more exposure. (Such as niche gamer,tech-raptor,lewd gamer,and gnosh gamer)
