I've been dying for a female protagonist in a GTA game for years. Then I remember how females are portrayed in GTA games and I think maybe that's not the best thing in the world.

It really depends on what gets you amped, really. My workout mix has over 100 songs. There's every Rocky training montage song, a ton of WWE wrestler entrance music, most of the 1986 Transformers movie soundtrack, lots of hard rock, and pop stuff like Aqua and Lady GaGa.
As long as Rockstar can figure out when to land the plane on the story, I'm perfectly happy with a game that has this much stuff to do. It wasn't the plethora of activities that was the problem for me in GTA IV. Heck, I even loved doing activities with Roman and Brucie and Little Jacob. It was just that the story went on way too long and started to lose its way.
Totally going to try to parachute into the ocean though.
Totally. We even did an episode of NWP about our sickness. I don't go out of the way to get all the points in a game, but when they are well done they are not only a great way to track progress, but they will often get me to play in a different way than I thought about originally.
Multiple people have used the "you're playing it wrong" argument with me when it comes to The Last of Us. That's probably my fault, because I didn't communicate my issues with the game well enough.
I'm talking about the forced shooting segments. Without spoiling, I can think of the sniper's nest, the dam, the horse chase, and the university off the top of my head. These are areas where it's all about shooting, and this is problematic because, not only do I think that the shooting is not good, but the fact that so many people have so much ammo completely throws out any sense of realism that the game was establishing.
Beyond this, the AI for the enemies changes in these sections, as opposed to the areas where you can choose stealth. They do that annoying side step of gunshots (again ruining that realism), can always make a beeline towards Joel (this happened most egregiously in the university, and soak up bullet damage like a sponge. I understand that this has been a problem with the Uncharted games, so for it to show up here is extra annoying. To be clear, in the areas where you could choose to be stealthy I did, and it's to the game's credit that I could still power my way through if I made a mistake. Although I didn't like the way it was stealth or no stealth. The second you alert a guard, Ellie starts opening fire and you're pretty much committed at that point.
Oh, and Mike: Tharja and the War Monk (I forget his name) were one of my power couples in Fire Emblem. They made an unstoppable team, and their daughter was one of my most powerful weapons later on.
If I can somehow manage to bring a tenth of the humor and personality to my podcasts that Ryan Davis had, I will consider myself a grand success.
I've also had a rough time at work today. Haven't been able to focus. Just like you said, you listen to these guys long enough and you feel like you know them. And I think for me, knowing he was just a year older hits really close to home.
I'll be posting a series of previews, leading up to a review about a month after launch. I've been playing the beta but sadly couldn't join in over this past weekend because my PS3 couldn't hold FF XIV and the game I'm playing for review.I'm a 9 year FF XI veteran, and that was indeed me that hosted the episode about FF XI/XIV. We may be doing a sequel to that after ARR launches, depending on if I can get my guest back.
The big one is Mark MacDonald, but some of the other 8-4 people on the game were John Ricciardi and Justin Eperson.
I'm paying 80 bucks for this game, because I have a sickness and need help.
Actually, I can't pass up a FF special edition, and I want to do my part to help this game be a success. I consider it my own Kickstarter to keep Square Enix in business long enough to bring Final Fantasy back up to snuff.
