Man, I LOVE that art work for Gradius!  I used to to closely examine it many times as a kid.  It has that epic Star Wars feel to it.

I always enjoyed the quirkieness of the series.  I mean-- where else can you find Easter Island heads that shoot rings at you?  Really, the only bad thing I can say about the NES port is that it's inferiority to the arcade version became more apparent to me after playing the arcade original on the Gradius Collection for PSP.  I know...it's an unfair comparison.  Just say'n.

Yeah, I could have done without the path choosing thing. But thankfully, the shmup sections are fairly short.

This game perplexed me when I first saw the cartridge in the game store. But after buying it, I was glad I did. I think this was the only NES game beginning with an "X" that I had in my collection.

Yeah, I also had Pkemon Puzzle League.  I think I liked Tetris Attack slightly better, but they both were good games.

I haven't well with keeping up new releases for a while now.  The only new game I purchased this year as soon as it come out was the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection.  That's it.  I'm always gehind the curve when it comes to new games.

Dude, that Tetris Attack theme for the ice world took me back to the later mid '90s.  M y brother and I played the 2P vs. mode for hours on end.  One the best games of my youth.
