I wish there was a site that listed all the new indie game releases. Metacritic doesn't list them even if they are on XBLI. I usually find out about them word of mouth like I did for Penny Arcade Adventures IV and the other Zeboyd games.
Indie PC Gaming for the Console Connoisseur
Indie gaming on the PC is easier than you might think. Here's an introduction to getting started, and some games you might enjoy.
THE GAMES
Once you’ve checked out Steam, GOG, or Desura, you’ll probably be a little shocked by the amount of games out there. So I’ve made two lists of games you might want to try out: some classic indie PC games and some new hits that came out recently.
CLASSICS THAT SHOULDN'T BE MISSED:
Faster Than Light
FTL was released just late last year, but is already considered by many to be a classic in the annals of PC gaming. It is basically a spaceship captain simulator, where you manage your crew while you try to survive randomly generated disasters as you explore the universe. It’s a rogue-like in space, basically. You will lose ships, you will lose crew, but the game is still strangely hypnotizing as it transitions from insane stress to utter calm in the blink of an eye – or in the jump of a warp drive.
Deponia
A point-and-click adventure series that has flourished on the PC with multiple sequels, Deponia takes place in a fantastic world full of plot twists and off-the-wall humor in the tradition of ancient adventure games of the ‘80s and ‘90s. The characters are bizarre, the jokes are clever, and the puzzles are legion.
To the Moon
Released way back in 2011, To the Moon is an adventure game with SNES graphics and an amazing storyline. Concerned with death and memories rather than high scores and moving platforms, this game might convince you to shed a tear, or make you feel things you’ve never felt before.
