Strider Hands On Preview

"That Ninja from Marvel vs. Capcom" is back!

During the small period of time I had with the Strider demo, I died much more than I planned on. I was bombarded by lasers and attacks at a surprising speed. I quickly figured out that Strider was not an easy game. That should come as no surprise to those who played the original. What may garner your attention, however, is how the new gameplay mechanics help make Strider tremendously fun to play.

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z Hands On Preview

I sorta want Tenkaichi back...

I wanted to be impressed by this game. After more than a few disappointing outings in the genre, I was ready for a Dragon Ball Z fighting game on the level of 2007’s Budokai Tenkaichi 3. Unfortunately, aside from some nice visuals, Battle of Z seems to continue the recent tradition of bad fighting mechanics and gimmicks.

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW! Hands On Preview

Another Wacky Adventure Time title, with an interesting premise.

Last year, Adventure Time: Hey Ice King, Why’d You Steal our Garbage? surprised gamers by paying homage to niche games like Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link as well as being a good representation of the television series. This year, Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! serves as a follow up, but is a much different game than its predecessor. Rather than being a 2D side scrolling adventure game, this game shares more in common with dungeon crawlers like Gauntlet and Diablo.

Takedown: Red Sabre Review

Not sure if I'll be able to trust another tactical first-person shooter ever again.

Prepare to have your hopes dashed on the rocks of reality: this is nothing like Rainbow Six. There is nothing good, fun, or entertaining about it. It's not something you should try for any reason. It's so bad that it will take months of patches before it could be merely described as bad.

The Ultimate Guide to Badassery

So you want to try bringing fists to a gunfight...

Being a tough guy is hard, but being a badass can be even tougher unless you follow my lead, of course. Anyone can claim to be badass, but more often than not their badassery can’t hold up when it’s truly tested. I, however I am the complete embodiment of all that is badass in video games, and it’s time for me to share some of my knowledge with you all. You may think you’re hot stuff, and you may think you’re tough, but in reality you’re only an apprentice.

AiRace Speed Review

Get ready to crash!

I jumped into AiRace Speed without much prior knowledge of the game. From its eShop presentation, it seemed to have F-Zero written all over it. As a closet racing game fan, I couldn’t help but get excited. After a few minutes playing, it was clear that the developers managed to capture the speed – and the sadistic difficulty – of F-Zero but not much of the fun. Perhaps it’s because the tracks are devoid of racers or the fact that I never had a perfect handle on the ship, but after a few hours grinding away in these races, I never want to look at AiRace Speed again.

Batman: Arkham Origins Hands On Preview

Why you shouldn't be too worried about the Caped Crusader's origin story.

The Arkham-verse has become its own thing after the resounding success of Arkham Asylum and City. Rocksteady laid a superb foundation for the Batman series and though the latest game is being handled by WB Montreal, there’s not much to worry about. The fundamentals of the series hold up, and if anything much has been added to the gameplay. Whether these additions will prove beneficial is yet to be determined, but based on some story tidbits and my brief hands on I remain excited to see what the full game has to offer.

PB & Jason Issue 130: In Which There is Absolutely No Mention of Disney Epic Mickey or Scribblenauts

C'mon, you can't expect every title to be 100% accurate, right?

This week's PB & Jason will probably lie to you. Don't believe what I say in the show's intro, as there isn't really anything about Pokémon in the podcast at all! If I were a betting man, I would also wager that somehow both Epic Mickey and Scribblenauts are discussed. Surprise! Tune in! Leave a comment! Send an email!
