Time Gone Bye: Saying Good Day to Zelda

Some missing Links.

Link has jumped from one generation to the next while reinventing his style for saving princess Zelda with every iteration. Unfortunately, the most recent games have been much less groundbreaking than the golden age from the original through Ocarina of Time. Whereas the player had become accustomed to at least a few new mechanics and drastically different artistic styles between each installment, recently players have been fed mostly regurgitated ideas. Even so, the new technological capabilities of Nintendo’s 3DS and Wii U should provide plenty of new places to take the franchise.

Wii U Review

The Wii U embodies the impressive culmination of Nintendo’s work/experiments over the past decade.

In many ways the Wii U represents the culmination of Nintendo’s work across the past few generations of handheld and home consoles. The concept of asymmetric gameplay was born on the GameCube with its Gameboy Advance connectivity; a multitude of control options, including motion controls and pointing was birthed with the Wii; touch-enabled, dual screen gameplay hit critical mass with the introduction of the DS; and even the system’s menu draws influence from the recently released 3DS. What’s most impressive about the Wii U is the manner in which it manages to blend all of these concepts into a functional and cohesive experience that gives players an unbelievable degree of control within their gaming environment.

NYCC 2012 Wii U Round Up

Wii U had a lot to offer at this year's New York Comic Con. Here are some highlights.

At New York Comic Con 2012, one of the biggest spectacles on the show floor was the Nintendo Wii U. Releasing this November, gamers and curious bystanders were interested to see what the big deal is with Nintendo’s new console.  If the long lines and constant crowd was any indicator, Nintendo’s Wii U made a positive impression, with many great titles on display. Nintendo Announces November 18 Release Date for Wii U

Launch window titles revealed, console configurations & prices, new services, and surprise titles.

This morning at 10AM EST, Nintendo held a press event detailing their upcoming Wii U console, which has revealed a flurry of information. As expected, the system will drop on a traditional console release date for the company, the third Sunday in November, which this year is November 18. The system will come in two different configurations: a Basic and Deluxe Set. The Basic Set will retail for $299.99 and will come with a white console, 8GB of internal storage, a white GamePad controller, AC adapters for both the controller and console, a sensor bar, and an HDMI cable. The Deluxe Set will retail for $349.99 and will come with all items in the Basic Set, but will instead be available in black with 32GB of internal storage. It will also include a console stand, a GamePad charging cradle, a vertical GamePad stand, and Nintendo Land, as well as enrollment in the Deluxe Digital Promotion.

Redesigned Wii U tablet gets new analog sticks.

This weekend, a QA Tester at Telltale Games tweeted an image of a Wii U Tablet that appeared to have some significant alterations since our previous sighting at last year’s E3.

Wii U May Support Two Tablet Controllers

"Nintendo now know they absolutely need to support two tablets."

When the Wii U was officially announced at this year's E3, the idea of a room full of people each with their own tablet was quickly dashed when it was revealed the system could only support a single tablet at a time. Nintendo is reportedly trying to change this by working out a way to support two tablets on one system.
