Nintendo has long been criticized on their online strategy – something their attempting to address with both the 3DS and Wii U. While we await a more robust presentation concerning online functionality at Nintendo’s press conference on Tuesday, Sunday’s Nintendo Direct presentation shed some light on what kind of functions we should expect with the revelation of Miiverse.
The Ice King stole garbage? Who does that!?
D3Publisher officially announced today the development of a game based on the Cartoon Network show, Adventure Time. Titled Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd you steal our garbage?!, D3 plans to release both DS and 3DS versions of the game this fall.
Wheels of Destruction is now available on the PSN.
Despite the change in account branding, the PlayStation Network brand will remain intact.
Yesterday, Sony began distributing emails to PSN users to alert them of a slight scheduled change to their accounts. In an effort to unify their various digital brands, Sony is establishing the Sony Entertainment Network and subsequently converting all PSN accounts to be more universal SEN accounts. While the overall digital service Sony is providing will carry the SEN branding, the PlayStation Network brand will remain to accommodate all of Sony's gaming consoles.
Spring has sprung a Rayman redone!
Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc HD was announced a little over two months ago. The series has seen a slight revival with the release of Rayman Origins in November and Ubisoft is going to capitalize on that release with this HD remake. Rayman 3 HD now has a release date and it's March 21, 2012.
Susan Panico will no longer lead the Playstation Network in North America.
The head of the Playstation Network is no longer a part of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA). Susan Panico became a part of the company in 1994, and was promoted to Senior Director of Playstation Network in February 2007.
Multiple accounts per system are on the way.
Nintendo's online system has long been a point of contention for both fans of Nintendo and hopeful adopters. Given the major strides made in online integration to home consoles this generation, Nintendo has finally announced plans to deliver similar services on the upcoming Wii U system, as well as a number of other functionalities that encompass the 3DS. The overarching online solution is branded under the name "Nintendo Network." Perhaps the most important announcement is that the Wii U will have individual user accounts - no longer will the online functionality be tied to the system itself.
You know you want to hear “Sonic Boom” again.
I love Sonic the Hedgehog. That is probably the understatement of the year, as I’ve made my love of the blue hedgehog well known and I know all of the Sonic games front to back. Well, most of them anyway. I didn’t own a Sega CD back in the day so one of the exceptions is Sonic CD. Since its initial release in 1993, diehard fans have sworn by the game’s quality, going so far as to call it the greatest Sonic game ever. Two ports have been released on the PC and as part of the Sonic Gems Collection on the GameCube, but this latest port is the most attractive release of the title. Does it still hold up 18 years later?
