Live PlayBit Tonight: Super Mario Bros. 3

Join Jason Ross to watch the replay of one of the most popular games of all-time!

We've all played this one (I hope). Super Mario Bros. 3. It's one of the top-selling games of all time, even before being rereleased. Mario first dons a power-up that lets him fly, there are colorful, challenging stages that are well designed, and there's even something of a fun and interesting narrative throughout the game. SMB 3 is a classic, and now I invite you to join me as I play through some of Super Mario Bros. 3.

See what I did there?

This week's PB & Jason revolves mainly around Mario! That's right, I've gotten my hands on Super Mario 3D Land now that it has released stateside, and I've been playing it like crazy. The Binding of Isaac Review

Fun, gross, and more than worth its cost.

The Binding of Isaac is made by the same team that brought you Super Meat Boy, and it shows. Everything is familiar: the visuals (just as morbid), the music (same composer), even the difficulty level (not quite as bad but nowhere near easy). Though they’re from different genres, if you liked Super Meat Boy you’ll almost certainly like Binding of Isaac.

Super Street Fighter II Coming to Virtual Console with Online Play

Though the game has seen release elsewhere in HD, Nintendo's barren Virtual Console landscape is getting a notable addition.

Wii fans holding out for a new Virtual Console addition hopefully won't have to wait much longer. Capcom is currently working on preparing the Genesis/Mega Drive version of Super Street Fighter II for release on the platform. Despite being released remastered in HD on XBLA and PSN, the game is still due to hit the Wii to capture the rest of the market in its original form - well, mostly. Online play is being integrated into the experience, allowing both US and EU gamers to go online with this well-regarded classic.

Double The Fun? - Mario Mania #2

Two games in one part! Can you guess which one I like better?

Different things usually happened with Nintendo in two completely different continents. While the NES arrived in 1986 in North America, Japan was already in its third year of Famicom glory. Nintendo’s then-released Famicom Disk System introduced the battery back-up save feature, eliminating the need for long over-drawn password saves. Games like Metroid and The Legend of Zelda greatly benefited from this innovation. It was also this year that Nintendo saw fit to release a sequel to Super Mario Bros, appropriately titled Super Mario Bros. 2. This was a completely different Super Mario Bros. 2 than the one North Americans got in 1988. So what in the world happened?
