Max Payne 3 Review

Remember when the shoot-dodge was your best bet for success?

Max Payne 2 was a game that did two things amazingly well: it provided a dark, deep, and gritty story that was accentuated by its film noir approach, and it offered unique third person shooting that was unlike anything else thanks to the bullet time system. Max Payne 3 brings both back, but neither is executed to the degree of excellence seen in the past iteration of the series.

Wii U to Support 2 Tablet GamePads

We can all rest easy now.

Since the Wii U’s unveiling at last year’s E3, many have wondered just exactly how many Wii U GamePads the system would support.  Initial showings of the system and game demos always showed just one person using the tablet-like controller, while others playing along used the classic Wii remote controller, which lead many to believe that Nintendo’s new machine would only support a single GamePad.  Today those concerns were wiped away.

Ubisoft Reveals Splinter Cell: Blacklist

The action-heavy sequel to Conviction is coming in spring 2013.

Jak and Daxter Collection Review

Light on features, the Jak and Daxter Collection is likely to have limited appeal.

Jak & Daxter Collection has been a long time coming. Given Sony's track record for HD remasters and Naughty Dog's rise in popularity thanks to Uncharted, it was surprising that these PS2 heroes hadn't been given the HD treatment earlier. Even odder, the game has been an extremely low profile launch for Sony, as they have done very little to promote the title and its availability is still extremely limited. Being that the collection is completely devoid of bonuses, and next to no clean up work has been done on these aging classics, it's not entirely surprising that Sony is giving this one the silent treatment.

Shank 2 Review

Substance catches up to style in this blood-filled sequel.

Like its predecessor, Shank 2 is a 2D linear action platformer. I’ll be honest, I didn’t play more than 30 minutes of the original. I was more than intrigued by Shank’s ultra-violent cartoon animations, but I didn’t enjoy the gameplay at all. The combat mechanics felt clumsy and seemed disconnected from what was happening on screen, and the dodging mechanics were also extremely tough to pull off -- making it a chore to play.
