Sora and company's next adventure coming exclusively to the 3DS.
Sure, we knew that Square-Enix was working on a 3DS entry in the popular Kingdom Hearts series in Japan, but any information beyond a few snippets of footage and the suggestion that it would be coming at some point to the west was non-existent at best. Which is why today’s announcement that Kingdom Hearts 3D is indeed coming, and much sooner than many had predicted, is such welcome news.

Memories and some of my favorite games
Today is the 15th anniversary of the Nintendo 64 being released in the United States. It was the first console I got around launch time. My mother got me one from someone she worked with no longer than a month or so after it first came out. The N64 is a darling to Nintendo fans and to those who love games with a whimsical quality and an emphasis on multiplayer. I have a, shall we say, complicated impression of the Nintendo 64, but one that is shaped by great memories of playing great games with my friends.

Witness the original arcade Donkey Kong get beaten into the dirt.
Please note that this review will not cover 3DS Virtual Console or Super Game Boy features.
I have a confession to make: I hate the original arcade Donkey Kong. Yes, sneer at me all you want, but I have good reasons for disliking it so much. While I have been very spoiled by Mario platforming adventures, his first battle with Donkey Kong is not something I eagerly replay. Note that this is coming from someone who enjoys games like Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig Dug (notice a pattern here?); I will admit that the original DK arcade game has some sound elements that would set a benchmark for Mario’s debut, but with those awful jumping mechanics Donkey Kong isn’t a game I rate highly.
