PixlTalk Episode 47: Just the Two of Us, We Can Recount 2011 If We Try

Okay, so you already know that this is going to be a great episode because the title pays homage to the strongest rapper in the game … Will Smith.

Jesse and I found ourselves alone here on PixlTalk, but that didn’t stop us from having a lively, albeit lengthy conversation. Seeing how this was our last episode of 2011 we decided to take a look back at this momentous year for gaming. We cover all of the ups and downs that made 2011 what it was, while adding some of our own personal perspectives. If you’re looking for a great way to close out your year of gaming then look no further than this episode of PixlTalk. Hope you all enjoy and make sure to contact us at pixltalk@pixlbit.com with questions, comments, or suggestions you have for future episodes.

Madden Team Poaches MLB The Show Talent

Kolbe Launchbaugh leaves SCEA San Diego for Tiburon.

Longtime developer of the famous Madden NFL franchise, Tiburon has seen quite the turnover this year.  Earlier this spring some top level talent left the studio and were replaced by Cam Weber as GM of football products, Roy Harvey as executive producer, and internally elevated Mike Young in the role of creative director.  The team is still patching holes and is now adding some significant talent, as Kolbe Launchbaugh has announced via Twitter that he is leaving SCEA San Diego to become creative director on Madden NFL.

Amazon Lists Vita Game Price Variance

Seems not all Vita games will be priced equally.

It has been long suggested that having a standard pricing system for video games wouldn’t work as the industry grew, particularly with the emergence of cheap iOS and mobile games.  Sony has been toying around with discounted prices for digital versions of Vita software in Japan and possibly the US, but a look over at Amazon.com reveals that they may be mixing it up with physical copy pricing as well.

Nano Assault Review

This is what happens when the old and new collide.

Does anybody remember Body Wars at EPCOT?  It was one of those simulator rides that had the passengers shrunk down in order to enter a human body and carry out some kind of mission.  I honestly can’t remember what that mission was or even if it was successful, but I do remember how amazed I was as a young child, flying through a complete stranger’s cardiovascular system, red and white blood cells zooming by my head.  It was an awe inspiring experience that has stayed with me, perhaps through the nostalgic lenses of rose colored glasses, and it’s a memory tapped by Nano Assault on the 3DS.

Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] Announced for North America/Europe

Sora and company's next adventure coming exclusively to the 3DS.

Sure, we knew that Square-Enix was working on a 3DS entry in the popular Kingdom Hearts series in Japan, but any information beyond a few snippets of footage and the suggestion that it would be coming at some point to the west was non-existent at best.  Which is why today’s announcement that Kingdom Hearts 3D is indeed coming, and much sooner than many had predicted, is such welcome news.
