And with that out of the way, here is my question, why do people hate PS3 games with a red case? Or any game in general?

 http://cf.shacknews.com/images/20110225/hits_17108.nphd.jpg

I've seen people on the internet hate on the redboxed PS3 games, but my question is why do they? Is it because the red box throws off the clear cases of their collection? What about some special edition games that don't even have a clear case? In most cases, those games come in a different box or a tin case. I don't know if people hate those special cases. But it seems to only be red cases for some reason. I mean it's the same game. Honestly I don't mind, I really like the red cases or any different colored cases in general because it seems like I'm getting something special.

I really like different colored cases, sometimes I prefer those over the generic caess because it makes your library of games stand out. I have a couple different colored cases myself and I do like them alot.

So do you hate red colored boxes or any different colored box for games in general? Do you like them? Thanks for reading and later.

As a collector, I'm not much of a fan of the red PS3 cases because it means I'm not getting an original print of the game. I also do think they're ugly, but that could be an unconscious reaction to the color because I know it's not original.

Also, a lot of the different colored cases for greatest hits games also results in modified box art that's not usually very nice. The Platinum Hits on the 360 spring to mind in particular.

Of course, I understand the value in the practice. Publishers do this in an attempt to make it stand out from the other games on the shelf as something special, but the result often seems tacky to me.

I'm fine with red cases, I think they look nice and especially like the Mario Kart one. My issue is that they don't clash well with my clear PS3 cases. It just doesn't look right on a shelf. Especially compared with my 360 ones where no matter what there's green and silver on there, so it looks fitting.

I don't like the "Greatest Hits" boxes too much.  If I have no choice, then fine, I'll get it.  I would rather have the original boxes with my games.  I don't see the point in making a game "Greatest Hits" or "Platinum Hits" when nothing is changed or added to the game.  Most of the time, it's the same exact game.  They just have 2 big letter sized words plastered on it that covers the art or makes the art smaller along with changing the color of the case.

I guess people don't like them because they don't match.  I'm not particularly fond of them either, but it doesn't bother me THAT much.

I don't mind it so much. I love it when Nintendo does it for their games, and I wished they would do it more. The only thing I don't like about those PS3 cases is where it says "Greatest Hits", or "Game of the Year". I think a non-residue sticker would suffice.

Owning zero PS3 games, not being a collector and liking the color red, I actually like how they look here ...

I don't mind the color, anymore than I do the various sizes of dvds/blu-rays on my shelf. Whatever houses and protects the disc from the elements will be fine for me.

I don't see what the big deal is. I've been buying cases for my NES games for awhile now, and some of those come in all kinds of hideous colors lol.

Doesn't bother me, really. Like you pointed out, it helps make it stand out.

I like getting the games as they were on day-one, but sometimes the greatest hits editions are all I can get when I buy used. I don't really mind too much though.

My New Super Mario Bros. Wii has a red case and that was very enjoyable. Also my PAL region copy of Pandora's Tower (because I was impatient) has the black case that Japan also got.
