To the Batmobile...

Keeping up with the theme of super heroes, today I'm going to talk about my favorite animated movies of my most favorite super hero of all time: Batman. I love Batman, he does do things in mysterious ways but it's all for protecting the innocent citizens of Gotham. Heck I'd do the same if I was in his shoes, or boots. I've watched alot of cartoons and animated movies over the years and I've watched quite alot of Batman animated movies. There are still quite alot I haven't seen but I loved the ones I've seen so far. But before we deal justice, here are blogs you might of missed:

And with that out of the way, here are my favorite Batman animated movies:

Batman Year One: Based on the comic book series of the same name, Batman Year One is a movie about Bruce Wayne returning to Gotham City from his trip around the world. That trip included him learning those skills that would eventually use as Batman. The movie tells you mostly about Bruce Wayne's tenure as Batman as well as his first appearance, the first appearance of Catwoman, the corrupt politicians and crime families of Gotham and corruption on the Gotham Police Department. The movie is pretty good, you can tell alot of the stuff from Batman Begins was taken from the comic, at least from what I saw from the movie.

Batman & Mr. Freeze: Subzero: When people think of Batman and Mr. Freeze in the same sentence, they think of the awful Batman and Robin movie. There is a way better movie that features Mr. Freeze and Batman known as Batman & Mr. Freeze Subzero. Taking place in the DCAU or Batman TAS universe, it starts off with Mr. Freeze in the artic with his wife still cryogenically frozen but a submarine submerges in the cave she was in and causes her condition worsens, prompting Mr. Freeze to travel to Gotham. I'll say it's a way better movie than Batman and Robin and it's still a good movie to watch, despite the dated cgi.

the batman vs dracula

The Batman vs. Dracula: A movie that takes place in The Batman universe. The movie is basically about the Penguin escaping Arkham Asylum and running into the Joker during his escape but Batman goes after the Joker. Penguin sees an opportunity to escape and winds up in a graveyard and well revives Dracula by accident. Batman now must deal with hordes of vampires and the King of Vampires himself. The animation is really clean and smooth, and the movie is actually quite good. I say give it a go.

Batman Under the Red Hood: Based on the A Death in the Family and Under the Hood comic books is about Batman failing to rescue Jason Todd, the second Robin from death. Years later Batman then must face a new enemy calling himself the Red Hood, which is infact an old alias the Joker used before he was the Joker. Nightwing even comes out in the movie too. The movie deals with what many consider Batman's Greatest Failure, the fine line between good and evil, and the difference between justice and revenge. From all the movies I've listed so far, this is one I highly recommend, it's a really great movie.

Batman/Superman Movie: This movie takes place in the Batman TAS and Superman TAS universes, well they technically merged those 2 to make the New Batman/Superman and it's probably the movie that paved the way for the Justice League cartoon. It takes place with the Joker going to Metropolis to pay a visit to Lex Luthor for a deal, Joker says he can kill Superman, for a price. Batman travels to Metropolis to find the Joker but he also runs into Superman. It's a pretty good movie and it's also pretty good seeing interaction with Superman and Batman.

Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker: Batman Beyond got cancelled which is a shame because it was such a great series. It did get a direct-to-video release like all of these movies so far. The film starts with the new Batman stopping a heist, but not just any normal heist. That heist eventually shows a villain from Bruce Wayne's past that both Terry and Bruce must face. This movie was surprisingly dark for a kids movie, it also shows some flashbacks from the past that connects to the events of the future. It's a really great movie and one I highly recommend it but there will be some spoliers from Batman TAS.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm: Out of ever super hero or Batman animated movie, this one is my favorite and think it's the best of the best. Unlike all these movies, this one got a theatrical release. It takes place in the Batman TAS universe and has Batman trying to solve a mystery behind mysterious murders on some of Gotham's Crime families. It also features flashbacks of Bruce Wayne's past as well as his first appearance as Batman, and also the one girl he loved the most, he loved her so much that he was willing not to become the crime fighter he wanted to be in order to be with her. But she has come back into Batman's life again. It also has Joker and I think he's at his finest here, besides Under the Red Hood. It's such a fantastic movie, it's one I highly recommend and rightfully so since it's so high up on my list. Do yourself a favor and watch it if you haven't, it's incredible.

I haven't seen some others like the Dark Knight Returns and there's this other that I left out till a later date. What are your favorite Batman animated movies? Thanks for reading and later.

There was one where there were several different Batman stories with different animation styles I thought was decent.

Everyone loves Mask of the Phantasm, but I thought it was good, not great, after watching it a couple times way after it came out with a rental.

Under the Hood is by far my favorite, as it deals with a lot of central themes of Batman as a character.

Year One I watched on Netflix recently, and I remember it being more of an origin story for Gordon than for Batman ... not sure I liked one of the things about Gordon's character in that, but overall it was really good, right behind Under the Red Hood for me.

The others I haven't seen, but they sound interesting.

I didn't realize there were so many Batman cartoon movies.

I hope you get a chance to go read my new blog, as it is very Nintendo-centric.

I rmemeber Mask of the Phantasm when it was released in thaters.  But I didn't see it until around 2002-ish or so.  Still an excellent  movie though.

I saw Under the Red Hood last year on Netflix.  Another well-done movie.

It's funny how DC totally kills it with their animated movies, but their live-action films aren't nearly as cohearant with the DC Universe.  Marvel, on the other hand, have awesome live-action movies, but just "okay" animated features, at least in my opinion.

I saw the Red Hood one. I have to see that Phantasm one since it's in the Batman TAS world. I love that TV series.

I haven't seen Under the Red Hood or Year One yet, if only I had a little more money and my TV wasn't busted.
