I haven't done one of these in forever! Oh, wait, I didn't blog at all for, what, six months? Something like that, anyway. Sooo....here's what I've been up to:

I had grand plans for the weekend. I was going to be productive - get some housecleaning done, go do some laundry, get my resume finished, and start applying for jobs. I was going to go to Portsmouth on Saturday for the sea music sing, too, but that didn't happen, either.

In one way, work taking up so much of my life this summer was a good thing. I managed to remain out of the loop on the whole Gamergate thing until I wandered back to Pixlbit, and even here I managed to avoid most of it, as well. And then my Facebook feed lit up yesterday with the cancellation of Anita Sarkeesian's talk at USU and an article from The Atlantic. That article really hit home, and I'll discuss that further down.

Sort of. I was really, really busy over the summer and also pretty stressed, so photography suffered as well as gaming. I did get some cool stuff, but it would take me forever to paste them into this entry, so I'm just going to put in links to my Flickr page, as they've made it a pain in the ass to post them in here.

I've been in a gaming slump all summer, and most of the spring, as well. I think I might have played a little Pinball Arcade, but that was pretty much it. My poor consoles sat, neglected and collecting dust, until last weekend. I was stuck at home due to mechanical failure of my normally (until this year) reliable 1999 Subaru Outback. I was also very bummed out about this because it happened on my way to my gramma's 90^th birthday party, which I'd made them change the date for, by the way. As I looked around my small living space, I realized that the dust bunnies were taking over. I hauled out the vacuum cleaner and went to town, until I got to the TV stand. Once I got the TV, stand, and consoles clean, that was the end of the cleaning spree.

Holy crap, it's been a while since I blogged! It's been a busy and slightly stressful summer and I just didn't have the energy to game, much less blog. But, with the end of summer and the start of fall comes seasonal lay-off, the Getaway, and cooler temperatures, all of which contribute to less stress (other than money issues) and a desire to fire up my consoles again.

Been a while... I haven't been gaming much lately. Between catching up on work, sleep, and dealing with a mystery illness (possibly the start of an ear infection) that was causing balance and vertigo issues, I just haven't been terribly motivated to either game or blog. Anyhoo, here's what I've been up to:

It's been a horribly stressful week since my last update. My mom's in the hospital, she's still pretty sick, but is a lot better than she was. I took some time off work to stay with my grandmother while my mom's in the hospital, and I was supposed to be back to work by this AM. On my way home last night, I stopped to fill up my car, and discovered that the gas was coming out as fast as it was going in. Of course this was 8:30 PM on a Friday. And no where near home. One crumb of comfort -  it happened the next town over from where I have family, and my cousin Kyler came and rescued me. My aunt and uncle have been on vacation for about a month, so he was glad for the company. We stayed up late talking about outdoorsy stuff, games, women and gaming, game design and mechanics, Firefly, anime, watched How to Train Your Dragon, and I watched him play a couple of levels of Sony Battle Royale before I had to call it a night. We continued the coversation the next morning, and he gave me some tips on how to use my DSLR (yes, Joe, I appreciate that you keep offering, but it makes more impact on my brain when I have it right in front of me). And he drove me back to my grandmother's this afternoon.

I've meant to blog earlier, and also to get all my photos uploaded to the internet so I can do a ranger blog with pictures, but life got in the way. My mom's not well and I've been a little distracted. Anyway, on to what I've been up to.

Work is rewarding, but exhausting.
