So Blake asked me to cover the Jak games, so I figured why not? Now, I've only played four of them, so I can't cover all six. But here's my take on Naughty Dog's second series. And next week I plan to do four of these, so if you have a series you know I play, go with that one. The other one will be Klonoa which I plan to start up right now for Cary.

Pokemon is a lot of things, but balanced not one of them. Don't get me wrong, with Smogon.com's rules and tiers, the game is damn well balanced, but you need to restrict it. At the same time, however, a mouse that shoots electricity probably isn't supposed to be on the same level as a giant sea serpent. But it's not just the Pokemon, it's their typings as well which are not all equal. Some are great offensively, some are great defensively, and some are just plain better than others. So here's my top five typings.

Kickstarter seems to get more flack than praise nowadays. While once it was a way for Tim Schaefer to give an awesome new adventure game, now it feels like people are taking advantage of it more often. To that I say, what the hell do you expect? This is an industry where Dead or Alive 5 Last Round comes with over $100 worth of costume DLC. You give people an idea, they will find a way to exploit it.

About a year and a half ago, I made a bold prediction that the Playstation Vita would be dead within a year. Now, I'm one to eat crow when I make outrageous claims, back on 1up I theorized that the Wii U could have more support than the 3DS. That's not going to happen. But I'm honestly not sure whether I was right or wrong here.

Platformers are easily one of my favorite genres. They're simple, yet offer so much fun stuff to do. So I thought I'd give a list of my five favorite, 2D or 3D included. 

Last week I explained just how crazy the mechanics to Pokemon were. Now's a chance for me to show you just how you can apply these mechanics to the game in order to see just how deep this rabbit hole goes.

I like Psychonauts a lot. The humor is great, the artstyle is fantastic, and the level ideas are really creative. Creativity is actually the word which would best describe the game. For those unfamiliar, the game alternates between the real world and inside people's minds. Once in a mind, it will be a reflection of a person. An overly paranoid guy will imagine everyone spying on him inside his mind, for instance.

So Mothman asked me to cover a bunch of Double Fine games. So, why not? I already covered Grim Fandango in a review (spoiler alert, it was awesome), but the rest I haven't covered as much. The one I won't put on here, however, is Psychonauts. That deserves its own blog. Maybe even two. The rest, however, go here.

Honorable Mentions: 

It's safe to say we won't see a great comeback from once great developer Rare. The company is now a shell of its former self, making Kinect games and avatar items while Microsoft hands Killer Instinct to another company. Which is a shame because their last game, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts not only stands as their most creative game, but may have been last gen's most underrated game.
