I got myself overwhelmed with game choices again, and so I’ve got a new plan to get things under control.

First thing I did today was try and get OneDrive to connect files from my PC and phone to my XBO. I could only do it from the PC side. The XBO app only let me see the account linked to my XBO, not my PC account. I searched and searched for documentation on this XBO app but found nothing even on Microsoft’s own web sites. It was really frustrating.

Rentables:

I’m seriously considering switching to playing only small indie games. Full game experiences are so involved. Whole weekends disappear. I don’t know if I like that right now. But I’m going to finish what I started, and that is Lego Pirates of the Caribbean.

Why is it that time flies so fast when you’re gaming? I get so annoyed by it. I start a game, and by the time I look at the clock, the day is almost done. It’s crazy. I just kind of wish games were a little more compact and focused without so much content. Some of the indie games I’ve played have been really satisfying completing them to 100% in under 20 hours. But I can’t resist the call. And when a game calls me, I have to listen. Today it was all about Lego Pirates of the Caribbean.

I started some Fire Emblem Echoes [FEE] the other night. I’m really loving it so far. The game dives right into battles. Fire Emblem Fates Birthright lost me with all the other stuff you could do at the castle. I like in FEE that you can have the dialog run automatically instead of having to hit “A” after every sentence. I was heavily multitasking the other night listening to the dialog and music while I wrote my blog. I really enjoyed that. I want to find time all week to play some more. We’ll see if I can do it around work and school.

Hey! Pikmin demo - Got this through spot pass this week and played it. I really like it. It’s in 2D but uses the pikmin similarly. You use the stylus a lot to send pikmin around the screen. It looks great too. I want to buy it right now, but I’ll have to wait for my rental to come.

Mark and I played some more co-op in Kane & Lynch 2 trying to get a few more achievements. I was trying to get the one where you have to get the kill on an enemy your co-op partner knocked down but not out. I shadowed Mark and shot at anything he did that still moved. I only got a couple more and was still far from the 30 needed for the achievement. So, I just helped Mark get a few other achievements and just had fun with it. Then I switched to Valkyria Revolution, since it installed so quickly.  

I loaded up my 3DS with Project STEAM the other day. It plays a whole lot like Valkyria Chronicles, maybe exactly like it. The battle system is the same. It’s turn-based, but you move freely about the field. You can save your action points to use when it’s not your turn. This is called overwatch mode, just like in XCOM, and it lets you automatically shoot at targets that move into your line of sight. The world is steam-punk and you fight an alien menace. I’m liking it.

Duke Nukem 3D: Played three episodes and got tired of it. Tried to play Duke Nukem Forever but found out it’s not backwards compatible on XBO. I could have sworn it was. It’s just as well, I don’t really want to play it again. Thus ends my retro revisits. Onto games of relevancy.
